We recently got word of a new "super group" featuring members bands such as Swingin Utters, Me First & the Gimme Gimmes, Dead to Me, One Man Army, Filthy Thieving Bastards and Bottles & Skulls. The group calls themselves Re-volts, and currently have no label affiliation.

They've posted a few tracks online which can be heard at their MySpace page.

This doesn't have anything to do with the post above mine, but does anyone in here remember an animated children's film that was probably released in the early-mid 90s, wherein there is a scene where the main character (a young boy) peaks through a large door and sees a big, like...river of most likely black, but possibly green goo and the shit hypnotizes him with its evil, or something to that effect? I believe this took place in some sort of underground setting, if that helps. With this vague recollection I've only come up with "The Black Cauldron" as possibly being the movie I'm thinking of, but that doesn't ring any bells and I don't really think this was a Disney movie I saw.

I am thinkin of a movie too that I watched when I was little kid...it was about these kids that are in a mining cave and these ogre like creatures are trying to take them..It was made in the eighties I think....anybody knows what I am talkin bout..i know its vague but thats all I can remember..

i feel like he should contribute a few vocals to this ensemble though.

he has too good of a voice to go to waste. spike rules though, so no complaints as is.

Yeah, that was the only thing that depressed me about 'Cuban Ballerina", I mean I love Chicken (I eat it like four times a week), but I'm a much bigger OMA fan than I am a western addiction fan.

naw, see that's why I dig 'Cuban Ballerina', I think Chicken's got a gnarly voice, and it doesn't sound the same as on 'Cognicide'. Granted, Jack's got a voice that impossible to praise enough in words, but it just always feels like OMA as soon as he starts singing.

So I went to a basement show this past weekend and my faith in punk rock was restored. The main band did not have their drummer so the vocalist played drums and the crowd took turns singing the songs, pretty much it was just a sing along. That is what is so amazing about punk rock. You can have a show in a basement with 40 kids singing and you don't even need the lead singer. This is why punk is better than every other type of music, no EGOS. It doesn't matter how well you sing, it is all about having fun. You would never seen From First to Last let their fans sing the songs. That is what is rad about Dropkick Murphys, they let their fans sing, NO fucking EGOS.

funny you mention that...that is why i was not impressed with Hot Rod Circuit last time i saw them. the songs sounded good and tight, but this hardcore HRC fan was bouncing around and tried to get on the microphone to sings his favorite song and they pushed him off stage. i know people pay money to see the band, but come on...most of the people were there to see Limbeck anyway.

well I don't know who Limbeck is, but, the people who just pay money to stand around and listen to some singer might as well listen at home. A punk show is about excitement and emotion, and singing along with a band is so much cooler than some asshole singer who doesn't want anyone up on stage with him. I agree that an attendee should not try to steal the microphone from the singer but if the band is cool with the crowd singing on stage the show excitment usually increases. Have you ever seen any videos from the old Olympic Theater in LA, those shows looked amazing because the bands shared the stage with the crowd.

Yeah, I always loved the suicide machines, but when he actually came up to me after their set on the 'off the wall' tour and thanked me for singing along, my level of respect for him increased significantly.
