Dropkick Murphys complete new album

The Dropkick Murphys posted an update on their follow up to 2005's The Warrior's Code.

Looks like we managed to finish up working on our new album before we jumped on the plane for Germany. Tentatively titled "The Meanest Of Times" we're getting everything ready for a September release date so please stay tuned for more news and details on that in the coming weeks.

As previously repored the band will hit the road for a slate of US tour dates in August.

Based on the last time I saw them, more traditional and poppish. The set list was comprised of mostly Blackout and traditionally arranged songs, and nothing from The Gang's All Here. It sucked, because I love the Warrior's Code (except for Tessie of course) and TGAH is my favorite Murphys album.

They did play Hatebomb though, which was awesome.

they aren't really an amazing band or anything but their records are always pretty enjoyable

and with a band like this their live shows always are too, except the dumb drunk frat boys you have to put up

I know I'm late on this, because I just found out today, but how crazy and unexpected is that whole Chris Benoit thing. Fuck man, I would have never expected that from him, he was always one of my favorite wrestlers, especially when it came to submission wrestlers.

Wow, I had no idea that they were working on a new album, let alone have it completed, guess i should check their site more often.

That said, I hope it sounds like Warrior's Code, as i that album was a positive step for the band.

I agree! If this album is gonna be more like their new material, at least let it sound more like Blackout. Warrior's Code was just not a good dropkicks album. However, hoping for them to move back in that direction is a bit of a stretch. Whatever, they're still better than the Street Dogs

definitely not the only one. blackout was wayy better than warrior's code and can hold its own with the earlier albums. the sad thing is tho, when i saw em in like february, the new song they played sounded kinda like flogging molly, oddly enough. well, i recall a pretty dominant banjo lead repeating. either way, its gotta be at least a lil awesome.

Shipping Up to Boston and Tessie. It's too bad that these songs are what is selling their records, so the new album is probably going to sound like these.

i have to at least respect this band, being from boston. and really, i'd rather have the dropkicks representing boston than some terrible coked-up has-been group like aerosmith.

"shipping up to boston" is just been played out with it's prominence in the departed. and yeah, i guess that's a big selling point, because of that one single. it's not that terrible a song by itself though.

their working-class/vaguely right-wing tendencies kinda grate on me sometimes, like when they redid "Fields Of Athenry" for the fallen soldier in iraq. meh.

i still have a problem with the road of the righteous. it's a fucking ska song, for christ's sake!

and yes, fuck the haters. tessie is a great fucking song. though i really wish they'd used the gauntlet for a sox-rally-song instead.

Hmmm, since when did supporting soldiers/ the military become a "right wing" issue? Yeah i often roll my eyes when i hear the whole "support our troops" mentality (particularly in the US political arena), but there is a difference between "supporting the troops" and "Supporting the mission". I see where you're coming from, but i think that you're reading too much into it.
