Reel Big Fish have announced the departure of bass player Matt Wong. On their MySpace page, the Fish explained:

After 16 years he has decided to end his adventures with the Reel Big Fish and begin his aventures as a father! He has decided to stop living the wild rock and roll life and settle down and be a family man. He was never very fond of our constant touring schedule and after he got married a couple of years ago he was even more miserable than ever when he was away from home. As soon as the baby came, he said, "I knew I could never leave again".

The band has tapped their friend Derek Gibbs to take over his bass duties.

The band is gearing up for their new, first post-Mojo album. The record is titled Monkeys for Nothin' and the Chimps for Free and is due out July 10, 2007. It is the follow-up to Our Live Album Is Better Than Your Live Album which was released in 2006.

The band will be supporting the record with a co-headlining tour featuring Less Than Jake.
