Last.fm signs music deal with Sony

Looks like the sale of last.fm has opened some new doors for the music-based social networking site. The first, Sony Music which will be providing their catalogue for streaming via the service.

The new deal will make Last.fm the largest web radio service the world, according to the company. Sony noted:

The Last.fm streaming service will give our established artists a platform through which they can reach new audiences, and its unique recommendation system will provide our emerging artists with an important opportunity to build their fan base

true i like it as a music recommender. however, it's more like if you like this those scene kids like this. as opposed to if you like music that sounds like this then you'll like this which is more pandora-ish but pandora is way to big of a task to be sucessful.

wtf is with iLike, it sucks but is all over facebook.

I stopped using Last.fm when it screwed up my iTunes. It was the only plug in that I had and when my iTunes wasn't closing properly it said to try removing all plug ins. Sure enough it worked fine after that. Anyone else had this problem?

Still, it was strange knowing how much Shakira I listen too.

every time I shut off my computer it always get some error with closing the LastFM program... it gets annoying

Mine used to do that, and plus it was hogging memory all the time, so I removed that program and installed the "old" iTunes plugin from their site.

which plug in are you using. they are all like unsupported and thus lame. but the new last.fm one works better than the one before, you just have to get used to the 'something is using the itunes interface' dialog everytime you close itunes

I like last.fm and all that, but has anyone else had the problem where your most recently played track disappears completely after it submits normally and appears on your profile? I tried asking in the forums but apparently I'm being ignored.

That's happened to me, but it always seems to reappear where it was supposed to be before long, so it hasn't really been an issue.

I love last.fm. Just through looking at similar artists, I have found many which I love. And I like to know what my most listened to bands are. I don't even use the radio feature anymore.
