Tours: Sham 69 (North America)

Veteran UK punk act Sham 69 are returning to North America later this summer for a tour that will bring them to an assorted list of cities in the US and Canada.

Now the confusing thing is that following the split between frontman Jimmy Pursey and guitarist Dave Parsons both parties have laid claim to the band name and both have made the promise of upcoming recordings. It looks like the version undertaking this tour is the one without Pursey, featuring Parsons, bassist Rob Jefferson, and drummer Ian Whitewood with new vocalist Tim 'Scazz' Scargill.

FUCK SHAM 69! If there is NO Pursey then its not SHAM 69. How can bands tour without the lead singer and main songwriter. I might as well go get three guys to back me up and go on the road as the fuckin' CLASH.

chill. i saw them at cb's a couple years ago. it was fun. call it a cover band if you want, but i had a good time. and i'm glad they played that show. as was the whole crowd. and the band seemed to have fun. so what's the problem, really?

I feel its time for all the people on here to get the 'real' picture, though if you doubt anything I say then you are more than happy to contact Jimmy Pursey and his associates to denounce this.................!
I have worked with Jimmy Pursey for the last 5 years and been a fan for the last 25 years.
The reason why the band split is mainly due to the fact that over the years Jimmy had become increasingly egotistical and more like a meglomaniac than a so called man of the people. This same guy who some on here think is pure and say No Pursey No Sham had systematically ripped off promoters be they Punks or major promoters by agreeing to do the show taking deposits and not turning up and not refunding the money. Since the band has got back together they have been inundated by promoters and punk collectives to ask if they can help get there money back. This new l

This new line are so 'evil' that they have agreed to help some by doing gigs for free in order to help them get back on their feet to have money to promote more punk gigs and this is not just the UK but all over Europe. Now this is money that was stolen by Jimmy and his friends, so why would you think Dave Parsons and the others want to do this? Its because their decent people. This is just the tip of the iceberg, if only you fans young or old knew the whole story. This comparison to no UK SUBS without Harper well Harper is not a ego maniac like pursey so dont go there and he pays his band and has given this line his blessing.
The final resolution came late last year when the band SHAM 69 played 2 shows one at London Hammersmith Palais and the Academy In The Uk with the DAMNED. Both shows totalled to around 11,000 and when asked for some money Jimmy only wanted to give the 3 band members 2,000 and keep the rest.......thats how fair your super Jimmy Pursey is. Dont forget this has been happening for years.
The guys DAVE PARSONS and IAN WHITEWOOD decided enough is enough after 30 and 20 years respectivly. Dave Parsons wrote all the bloody songs not Jimmy so get your facts straight! The songs have always been more important than anyone man and to any true fan you will know this. Yes Jimmy will be bringing out an album on the 27th July................OH SORRY was he??????????Its now the 30th and still no album..........Listen why should the rest of the band suffer because of one bad apple............ Listen before you get taken in by the 'punk' hype and the 'rules' of whats right and the norm you should look at the facts. The band has since gone on from strength to strength and the fans in UK and EUROPE at least dont give a shit as this band are playing the songs they wanna hear more old ones and the new ones. Just go and see the show, those that are Jimmy fans well stay at home and wait for your messiah, but dont lend him any money as you wont get it back. A fan who will be travelling to the US to see!!!

well said....
I played the toronto show with these guys, and they are all real nice dudes, Skazz put on a great show and the crowd loved the set, cause they love the songs and couldn't care less about the inner politics. I mean let's be real for a moment, Great tunes, but...it's Sham and Pursey is as replaceable as a guitar tech, there is absolutely nothing unique about him and the vox.
As for the dude wanting to put the clash re-union together, I don't recall the clash ever touring with a ball licker so I think you're out of a job ...looks like the other 3 dudes you get will have to go do it without you.

This is why the unity in punk is depleting, because you pretentious pissants think you are doing something right by staying away, so your friends all think you are righteous, but,.... you are not willing to support the people that still work hard
