According to Deryck:
He (the reporter) went to the House minority leader in the States (a Republican), who tried to have me deported, trying to say I'm threatening the president."
The band's new record was released today.

Though the timing is a little suspect, at least one site is reporting that Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley has been threatened with deportation due to some controversial lyrics on the band's new album, Underclass Hero.

While I'm sure this is a publicity stunt aimed at making the band look more "edgy", I would be completely unsurprised if this sort of thing actually happens. 2+ Replies

I'm also surprised the album wasn't reviewed today. I still have a soft spot for the band. 4+ Replies

this totally makes sense. if i was the president of us and a, i would definitely feel threatened by Deryck Whibley's lyrics and take time out of my busy day to try to have him deported. 2+ Replies

I'm not really sure that this is a publicity stunt. If he was doing time on DUI charges, though, that's a different story.

Hahaha. This is too much. So, "he (the reporter)" can just trot up to the House minority leader with a bit of gossip and a lyric sheet and get someone deported? Give me a fucking break. 3+ Replies

What do the lyrics that are being referred to, say? I haven't heard the album, probably won't and I'm curious. 5+ Replies

thing is i dont even hate this band as much as most people do. but its really pathetic that they are trying to cash in on the whole Green Day American Idiot political vibe. I mean even the title...Underclass hero...pretty similar to American Idiot if you think about it. and since when is Sum 41 political...answer...since Green Day made a fortune making a political record. 4+ Replies

This is quite funny, although its probably some sort of marketing ploy.

Isn't it kind of redundant to say that the minority leader in a Democrat-run House is a Republican? 1+ Reply

did it really add anything to the article to say that the dude was a republican? 1+ Reply
