Videos: Bad Brains: "Give Thanks And Praises/Jah Love"

Bad Brains have posted the first video from their new full length Build a Nation. The video, directed by System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian and shot by cinematographer Danny Hiele (U2, Green Day, Kanye West), combines the songs "Give Thanks and Praises" and "Jah Love." Footage was shot at the George, Washington based Sasquatch Festival and in Portland Oregon.

This video is great and so is the new record. I'm a huge fan of the Bad Brains, and with good reason I was very skeptical of the release, but it is awesome. This is easily the best material they have released in 20 years. HR is a shell of the person he once was, but the rest of the band is as tight as ever. Getting to witness the four of them live on the same stage together is still an amazing experience. I hope they come back to NYC again soon for another show.

anyone who has sat down and smoked a spliff w/ hr knows he is straight up the coolest dude. no mental issues. he just laughs at the little kids who are now thinking they know about the history of hardcore. he gets loud about it but who wouldnt. the kids have ruined the scene.

Sooo... there's a Chuck Ragan/Skiba/Sundowner show in Chicago (The Metro) on August 9th. As you can tell, it's going to be amazing. However, it starts at around 7:00pm and I have to be somewhere else later that night. I don't want to miss the show. Question is, what time do you think it will end? Any prior experience with these guys would help, since this is the first time I've ever seen Chuck live.

And I still love Bad Brains.

usually, 10 end time means the set will end AT 10 and then the place will be empited out by about 10:30.

on the weekend, the all ages end time is extended to 11 or 11:30, the rest of the week all ages end time is 10.

about 2 years ago, or so, at toad's in new haven CT, bad brains played for about 100 people. this was their first of a few "reunion" runs. long before a new record was in the mix. besides watching dr. know sound check his guitar and rip solos and riffs for about 10 minutes, the show wasn't that hot. H.R is a maniac. he sat down on the drum riser for the majority of the set and hummed and whined into the mic. i also got punched in the left eye by some mo-mo who thought running around swinging his arms like a windmill was a good idea. long story short, i met H.R afterwards...and he was a complete asshole. he wanted nothing to do with any fans. at one point he was waving people away, as if to say he didn't have time for that shit. apparently he thought it was the 80's and people still gave a shit about his washed up band.
