One of Rolling Stone's reporters decided to look into the FSU and the murder of James Morrison which took place in January of this year. In the ensuing weeks, rumours of FSU involvement and speculation about racial undercurrents caused much speculation about the nature of the crime and the motivations of the perpetrators. Most notably, it drew national attention to the infamous hardcore "crew," the FSU.
The article, titled Punk Rock Fight Club: The Gang Behind the Mosh-Pit Killings was written by Mark Binelli and runs nine pages in the magazine. Unfortunately, the article itself is not available online, but a 3 minute, narrated "slideshow" does discuss some of the more pertinent issues. Also mentioned are some of the other crews as well as the controversial Boston Beatdown series. You can find that here. News (151 comments)

Everybody in camo shorts and Bane tees better run for cover. You're bound to be caught now that MTV is on the case.

Is FSU a racist "crew"? I always wondered about them. Sounds like a bunch of ignorant meat heads. 4+ Replies

Leave it to Rolling Stone to even fuck up the date that a member of The Doors died. 3+ Replies

Mosh in general are fucking stupid. i quite enjoy singing along and being pressed up against other sweaty kids, but i dont wanna fuckin tackle people or run into anyone at full speed. rock n' roll is fun, let yourself have fun. 3+ Replies

How come my crew never gets any press? Everyone will soon know the Dandy Fops. We fancy powdered wigs and a lass with a bountiful bustle. We have a penchant for mischief. We get rowdy and randy while listening to our own brand of music--"harpsi-core." Those not wearing pantaloons beware... 4+ Replies

dang, this is really funny. i just read this article on friday at borders here in santa fe new mexico and i wondered to my self when punknews would make a headline about it. also, i wondered if anybody would make a jab at the awesome cover of some person who i don't know, but i guess is famous on the disney channel. ugh...the whole article reaked of those types of people who you know, just sort of stand out at the shows and don't really 'get' it. yeah, i'm against violence at shows and i'm only there to have a good time, but the reporter talking about his worry for the clothes he wore when he went 'undercover' just made me roll my eyes. they mention a few names of famous fsu members and one of them i do do recall was in BBD vol2. at the end of the article, the reporter states that the guy called him and decided he was going to show rest of comment 2+ Replies

I wonder how Pennywise feels about being included in this article. If I recall the last line brought something up about FSU members listening to "Bro Hymm" almost as if to affiliate them with the scene. 1+ Reply

They should investigate why Hardcore got taken over by Fat guys who think they are tough by beating up little kids and girls, such as several prominent FSU people from NJ. Is it because daddy used to touch them? or could it be the years of pent up sexual frustration needs to be taken out at your local "HxC show" 2+ Replies
Someone (August 20, 2007)
HxC died along time ago .. and if you dont agree well you obviously weren't around circa 94-97 in the hxc glory days... There is nothing left but garbage nu-metal and fat tough guys who like to burp on stage. 6+ Replies

i knew there would be lots of negative comments but i wanted to submit this anyway. i thought it was an interesting feature. probably the first full article i've read in rolling stone for a very long time, although it's true that i might not have been as interested if i hadn't read about it here first...

Why are we even talking about Rolling Stone. Did anyone catch the cover of this magazine, it has that kid from HS Musical with his shirt half off questioning his status as a heart throb. What a serious rock magazine, give me a break.
Someone (August 20, 2007)
I bet everyone who read the article that isnt in FSU thought back to atleast several occasions of seeing the FSU people assualt nobodies for doing nothing... F them.. the all should be with Alex dropping the soap
Someone (August 20, 2007)
The article is definitely unflattering. I'm sure they agreed to do interviews because it would make them appear infamous but really it just makes them look like meatheads. 1+ Reply
