Big D and the Kids Table has announced a headlining tour in support of their new full length, Strictly Rude. Dubbed the Steady Riot tour, the band has enlisted Whole Wheat Bread and Brain Failure to provide support. The latter recently recorded a split titled Beijing to Boston with the headliner.

Awesome. This will be my forth time seeing Whole Wheat Bread and it's always because they open for bands I like. I'd likely never pay to see them on their own but as part of a good bill I wouldn't intentionally miss their set.

Whole Wheat Bread fucking sucks ass. What a joke! I had to see them open for No Use For A Name and they were horrible. How can you like that shitty music they play. The whole rap and punk thing is retarded. They don't go together.

seriously, why the fuck are these bands touring with WWB? Gimmicks(or gimmick rather) aside, the first album they put out had, like, one decent song (old man samson) and everything else they've put out is terrible.

Yeah, I'm the same way. I don't really like their records that much but they're always a ton of fun live, and seem to pop up on tours that I want to go to any way.

its good but there have been so many other releases this year that have overshadowed it... Bad Religion, Only Crime, MxPx, Against Me, RBF, all put out some really good music that pushed Big D aside a bit

well Big D's new album is more reggae than ska, but looking past that - RBF's new album is just a funner album to listen to.
plus i've always thought Big D would be a lot better with a different vocalist

Brain Failure is not on the whole tour. I believe the AKAs have the 3rd spot for the first half of the tour which fucking sucks

On their myspace tourdates listing, Big D has several days off, but Dec 11th is listed as TBA @ TBA... and it's right around the time they're touring the northeast in other dates such as philly, jersey, washington, etc... and boston (their hometown) isn't even one of the stops on that leg of the tour (besides their stop in october).

I have this theory that they are saving that date for a show w/ the Bosstones, who are rumored to be doing their Hometown Throwdown this year. December 11th fits right in the time frame of when the throwdown usually happens.

Does anyone else think i'm looking TOO far into this situation? I know it's a stretch... but with Big D apparantly possibly letting the cat out of the bag about the throwdown a few weeks ago, rumor on wikipedia that the guy who origianlly created the Bosstones logo has been asked to create a new logo for the 'tones.

I dunno, all the little facts seem to be adding up to a throwdown.

I remember a few years ago, they co-headlined with Voodoo Glow Skulls and there were maybe 50 kids. I've never seen the Metro that empty.

People seem to really either love or hate Whole Wheat Bread.

I'm also confused by the back lash on Big D as small as it might be. When their new record came out most punknews.org readers would have let all of the band members jizz on their faces and now some people are hating them. It's ok to like a band that is popular, guys.

Why all the bashing of Big D?I remember dave coming over and shaking my hand for coming out to a show . They played in a serious northeaster w/o missed note.They played acoustic when ther was a power failure.Came outside when a small club sold out and played three songs for free.Then I seen them after Strictly Rude came out and Mr Joe Gittleman himself came over and chatted with me.you people say you're punk but forget these bands put up with a lot of BS and after ten years of hard work they get bashed with doing a solid album.

Whole Wheat are a bunch of wankers, a perfect example of the downfall of third wave punk (3rd wave punk was kinda lame anyways....but...). I played a show with these guys and they had such a big rock star complex and their crew were a bunch of rude fucking assholes. Apparently, their shitty merch is sooooo important that they need EVERY INCH of the table to peddle their overpriced pop-punk paraphernalia and not willing to provide 8 inches of the table to allow other bands to use to give away FREE merch. Fuck these guys and their music sucks anyways. A definite low-point in opening for theses assbags. I hope you fans appreciate the irony of being cashed in on through their faux-punk. Suckers.
