Coincidentally, the album art is the same as the album art for the Goonies 2 soundtrack.
the_problem_with_fire (September 10, 2007)
by the way, i enjoy the art work, though i can't help but think of star wars... i could enjoy it more if i didn't already know that tom delonge is taking this wwaaaayy too seriously.
skaboom (September 10, 2007)
Come on, the first song was actually a step in the right direction. This is not a good sign. Trading in WWII geekiness for star wars geekiness is not an improvement.
usversusthem (September 10, 2007)
I wonder if he ever has self-aware or self-conscious moments where he stops and just wonders what the fuck is wrong with him.
insertcoolnamehere (September 10, 2007)
Just like in real life....Tom's head is the biggest. The funny part is that I am sure someone informed the cover artist that Tom's head needed to be twice as large as everyone else in the band.
swank (September 10, 2007)
I can't think of this band without thinking of a comment posted here a few months ago that predicted that eventually the AVA live show will be nothing but a band playing and Tom flying around the stage on wires.
DarthNader (September 10, 2007)
im laughing my head off
fallingupwards84 (September 10, 2007)
i think its hilarious that most of the people on absolutepunk.net seem to like it
letmesleep (September 10, 2007)
Seriously guys, can we stop getting Angels and Airwaves updates? I don't think anyone here cares.
superskabro (September 10, 2007)
Ska ha ahahahah ah!!! that is so hilarious! tom delonge is mentally insane!!!
allison_le_gnome (September 10, 2007)
The fake-tattered edges may just be the worst part. Then again, there are so many to choose from.
chickswithdicks (September 10, 2007)
i don't usually make fun of such obvious bad bands but man, that's hilarious.
Steveman (September 11, 2007)
Ah the band may suck, but whatever. That is some badass art. I'm totally in love with it, although the edges would only look good/make sense on an LP.
kingofsuck (September 11, 2007)
When I saw the headline I thought to myself "I wonder if it will make me laugh as much as the first time I saw the cover of their first album."
mcgregor107 (September 11, 2007)
Wow.. this is pretty.. ummm.. yeah.
fritobandito (September 11, 2007)
haaaaaaaaahahahaha best album art EVER. I've stopped thinking Tom is just a pretentious asshole. I mean, I seriously feel bad for the dude. Look at what he is now. Geesh...
remainsunseen (September 11, 2007)
biggest piece of shit band ever.
Autosuggestion (September 11, 2007)
I am completely convinced that Angels & Airwaves is one very long, side-splittingly hilarious joke.
chunks (September 11, 2007)
"Pretentious" is the only thing that comes to mine. Well... that, and E.T.
rob_rob (September 11, 2007)
I feel so embrassed for them. Jesus. What a fine collection of assholes.
escalators (September 11, 2007)
that album art is probably the most ridiculous album art i have ever seen. it made me laugh so hard i am crying.
DeadMilkMan (September 11, 2007)
Anyone else think the the guy in the bottom left looks like Rocky Balboa?
eatdogs (September 11, 2007)
so the guy on the bike is the replacement for the pod racer?
MikeStupid (September 11, 2007)
This is the funniest damn thing I've ever seen. I laughed so hard that my sides hurt.
Holy_Balls (September 11, 2007)
I ordered my pizza with jalapenos so I could shit. I haven't shitted yet. FUCK!
Bakla (September 11, 2007)
where is that Damage Plan fan when there is a band that needs to be taken out?
DickAround (September 11, 2007)
I tried... TRIED my hardest to like this album cover, but it's making me laugh and angry at the same time. Score's for that conundrum.
FuckYouOiOiOi (September 11, 2007)
when you fucked grandpa did he tell you that he loved you?
brynot (September 11, 2007)
I vote that from now on we only post news about "punk" bands on "punknews.org". I understand that the term "punk" is subjective, but I think we all have an understanding of what we're implying when we call something punk. Usually listed below the definition of a word in the dictionary are a few terms known as antonyms for that particular word. I believe that's the only association that Angels and Airwaves have with the definition of punk. Let's set some standards and go for quality over quantity, Mr. Punknews.org Man.
AlmostPunkEnough (September 11, 2007)
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!
RondoMondo (September 11, 2007)
My friend and I looked at that cover and nearly shit ourselves. That cover nearly had us in tears.
VictorIkpeba24 (September 11, 2007)
Now we know why their bassist left : he didn't want his fucking head on the fucking worst album cover ever. And I would have done the same thing, all the dollars in the world won't make up to the humiliation of having my face there.
Tom_is_a_Sky_Balla (September 11, 2007)
this cover would almost be cool if it was a joke.
AndyPonch (September 11, 2007)
Very E.T., very Star Wars, very Battlestar Galactica.....but don't forget the similarities between this album cover AND Bad Religion's Into the Unknown. That was my first thought.
bloofy (September 11, 2007)
Embrace s/t or Rites of Spring s/t?
thomas7155 (September 11, 2007)
this is going to sound like a rad mix of Bad Religion's unto the unknown, Blink-182's Dude Ranch, and Starwars. probably have some rad laser sounds.
fallingupwards84 (September 11, 2007)
we all know by this point that Tom is a lunatic, but the question that has been neglected in these comments is what the hell are the other three guys in this band thinking?
LeightonESmith (September 11, 2007)
Punknews is going to have an absolute field day with this.
Angiepants (September 11, 2007)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAH OH MY FUCKING SHIT. That's HILARIOUS.
T-34 (September 11, 2007)
Normally I'd be kinda bummed at the thought of this shit even making news, let alone a glancing mention on the site. But ever since "The great Tom Gabel hilarity drought of late August '07", folks have needed somethng to laugh at.
Pricey123 (September 11, 2007)
its kinda like a piss poor version of that pink floyd album cover aswell.
brynot (September 11, 2007)
I'm keeping a list of all of the names on this message board that think this asshole is a genius and at the same time insist on talking shit about Tom Gable.
dearye (September 11, 2007)
I-Empire = Inland Empire? California? I live in it, and it's a shit hole.
dearye (September 11, 2007)
PS:
jlee562 (September 11, 2007)
Jesus, Tom Delonge has such a fucking messiah complex....I gotta get whatever this dude is smoking.
