Tours: Anti-Flag / Dead to Me / Bomb the Music Industry!

Anti-Flag has announced some tour dates in support of their upcoming benefit album. The record is titled A Benefit for Victims of Violent Crime and is due out October 02, 2007.

The disc will provide funds to The Center for Victims of Violence and Crime and features five new Anti-Flag studio tracks along with five live songs recorded at Pittsburgh's Mr. Smalls this past April. The band released For Blood and Empire via RCA last year. (You can find the artwork for the album here.)

Is it something about the lyrics. Anti-Flag and the Code aren't side projects. Maybe I am just missing something.

i believe it's because of the lyrics (rant) that is at the end of the song:

ummmm.... quite the opposite? the whole song is about how everyone is a sellout in the end.... "every fugazi record has a catalog number and a price tag"?

Those lyrics still apply to bands like Anti-Flag, though. I mean, Anti-Flag plays Clear Channel venues while still applying the punk moniker to themselves, despite the fact that the whole idea of corporate music is antithetical to the notion of a counter culture, especially the punk counter culture. Anti-Flag can still be revolutionary from within the system, Jeff comments on how Fugazi is in the liner notes on the BTMI! site, but taking the corporate route they have taken seems to cheapen the "revolution." I don't know.

it would be awesome if anti-flag came to canada to do a headlining tour instead of supporting shit bands (ie. billy talent and alexisonfire)

The headline seemed too good to be true! Anti-Flag, Dead to Me, AND BTMI!?! At least I'll get BTMI! in Lancaster.

There seems to be some hate for Anti-Flag (maybe it was just the Someone's?), but I definitely feel they've gotten better as they've 'matured.'

Either leg of the tour would be fucking awesome. I do think 5-date tours are pretty silly. If you're gonna do 5 dates, you might as well do 10 more. And then you might as well play INDIANAPOLIS!!!!

last time i saw BTMI they spent 20 minutes of their set bagging on anti-flag. "we're going to talk about the issues because we're anti-flag...down with bush... mother fucker mother fucker" pretty much that over and over.
