Media: Anti-Flag: "Corporate Rock Still Sucks"

Anti-Flag has posted another new track from their upcoming benefit album. The record is titled A Benefit for Victims of Violent Crime and is due out October 02, 2007. The disc will provide funds to The Center for Victims of Violence and Crime and features five new Anti-Flag studio tracks along with five live songs recorded at Pittsburgh's Mr. Smalls this past April. The band released For Blood and Empire via RCA last year. (You can find the artwork for the album here.)

Kurt Cobain made that line famous and that was after signing to Geffen and having Nevermind go multi-platinum. So, it's not completely outlandish for Anti-Flag to say it.

In a way, it’d be like if Bad Religion never ever matured lyrics-wise from “How Could Hell Be Any Worse?”

The way I see it is bands have two ways to go. They can mature lyrically and technically through their career. Or they can stay consistant with what they do. Bad Religion chose to change. Bands like The Vandals and Pennywise choose to remain the same. I don't necessarily have a preference because you can find good and bad examples with both methods.

When I made the BR point I was strictly talking about lyrics, not the music aspect.

I don't really have a problem with Anti-Flag's music, I'm not one to nit-pick about that, but one thing I'm just getting tired of is their lyrics. They showed some potential in a few songs with their last album but then other songs would show no improvement at all.

I don’t mind the music with this new song but the lyrics just sound like the same stuff Anti-Flag has already said many times before and it bothers me because I think they do have the potential for something better.

Actually, the deal offspring signed with sony was worth LESS than the contract epitaph had with them. They wanted out of epitaph, because Brett Gurewitz was apparentlt too controlling. Make sure you know what you're talking about before you talk shit.
