The Mars Volta plan January release

The Mars Volta have set a release date for their upcoming album. The record is titled The Bedlam In Goliath and is due out January 29, 2007. It is the follow-up to Amputechture which was released in 2006.

Prior to the album, the band will be hosting a special New Years Eve performance at San Francisco's Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. The band adds: "costumes are required."

I'm sorry for your lack of musical knowledge.. Mars Volta certainly isn't my favourite band, but listening to them gives me, at least, a feeling of wanting to explore music even more. They'er also far more creative than your average band, and that's better that makeing the same shit over and over again.

I've come to the conclusion that TMV has surpassed Tool as "the band that you can't make up too-ridiculous song titles for." Like really. I could claim that there's a b-side called Flangulantica and it would sound a little more realistic than some of these titles.

I am not in college nor am I pretentious and I love the Mars Volta. At the Drive-In isn't for everyone dude. Plus, you like Less than Jake, who are lumped in a different genre. So that doesn't help the case with your dislike for said bands.

I liked their first record a lot, their second one didn't really do much for me though. I haven't heard anything else.

This seems like a departure from their previous albums, but instead of going off on a tangent, they're coming back from being on one.

How do you figure? If it's thirteen tracks, logic states that the songs will be shorter, since this is the most number of songs on any of their albums.

I tried watching them play...yeah think it was about 4 songs at about 15 min/ea...just couldn't do it, the songs were just too long. How about an atthedrivein reunion?

I think The Mars Volta new stuff is going to be amazing. People say they are doing just weird stuff but i think they are just trying new stuff which like any music genre it would seem different and riduculous but frankly, you have to start somewhere. I love At the drive in and i grew up with their music and i would love to see them at a reunion show(which sounds like it won't happen ever) but i can see how they just wanted to be new and start new because they were pretty old by the time they finished at the drive in. i can't choose either band, i love them both. also their song titles are either latin or spanish and well omar and cedric who are the main composers are hispanic so thats alot of their titles are non english of some sort.
