In my final segment of coverage of The Fest 6, I bring you a clip from Richmond, VA's The Riot Before, who performed an early set on the second day of the festival. The band also contributed a song to our Fest 6 compilation.

I have a serious question here. Why would you watch a set from a band you have obviously seen many times before at the Fest? There are obviously many good bands at the fest you have never seen perform live and I was just wondering why you would neglect that opportunity? Maybe it is just me, but I would much rather watch a set from a band I have never had the opportunity to see perform live compared to watching a band I have seen 5 or 6 times before. I think the opportunity to see a new band is exciting.

Good question. I checked out a lot of bands, got more footage, but this segment was from more of a personal perspective. Yes, this band are friends of mine. We shared a room there, and their set was part of my set experience. I have more footage of other bands, which I will eventually post, showcasing them. But this whole Fest 6 series has really been about my journey there and these guys are a part of it. That's pretty much it.

Skrewdriver had the best set they played a house show I've seen them 8 times already, everyone wanted to high five me in a hailing motion, nice guys everyone looked like Kojack

Going to punk shows when the whole nazi skinhead things was huge & those guys beating the shit out of me every week makes me feel that it’s my job to make Skrewdriver a bigger joke than they already are. Besides white power is a joke! The Dead Milkmen, they kick ass!

really? well, that assess,emt really follows logic, as the term orgcore specifically refers to the type of music that seems to get the myriad users of punknews.org all hot and bothered. there's a wikipedia article about it, which you can look up, but, it's basically hot water music, against me, and the dillinger four, and everything that sounds like those bands (which is a lot!). also, as that "your scene sucks" site so accurately notes, secretly the alkaline trio, though we don't like to to talk about that as much any more.

This was the opening slot of the 2nd day, there wasn't much going on at the time (I think only three other shows). Why not take the chance to see a band you know and love and help promote them. Never having seen The Riot Before, before I was actually quite stoked to see them.

this is true, the Riot Before played basically first on Saturday. Also, for me personally, the Fest was about me trying to see bands I'd never seen before, and in fact I purposely skipped out on some bands I can see whenever up in my area (the Measure, The Ergs, Bridge and Tunnel to name a few). But, some of the bands I *have* seen several times not from this area are still some of my favorite bands. I did check out as many new bands as possible though.
