Sources are reporting that the first batch of bands has been confirmed for Warped Tour 2008.

The lineup thus far includes Against Me!, The Bronx, The Devil Wears Prada and Pierce the Veil.

The addition of AM makes this warped tour instantly better than last years no matter what happens from here. Not that it says alot, but still.... Last years's lineup may have finally been the nail in the coffin for me.

Oh absolutely. Literally any post about Warped Tour in that window of years had a mention of those five acts playing on their own stage, appropriately called the Asskicking Stage.

I wouldn't have been surprised if Duff had been the headlinber. I'm still a little bummed out that the Org staffers took down the review of her album couple of years ago.

the last time i went to warped tour was the summer after my 21st birthday, the line for beer was like 30 minutes and i'm pretty sure they limited you on how many you could buy at once to like 2.....they also ran out of beer when i got immediately back in line

really? where'd you hear that? i bet it's not true. the benefits of deindustrialization run the gamut from the hipc-initiative states yearning for the technology transfer of FDI and its skilled management opportunities to those choking on toxic fumes ready to enter into a service-based economy. either way, i don't see it likely that the bands follow the factories in such a way because unlike the market for raw or processed goods in an open economy, the market doesn't exist in countries where it would be profitable to relocate them. furthermore, there is a lack of incentive on both sides that while it may drive cost down to house the bands in shanty towns as opposed to tour buses, the opportunity for profit is greatly decreased past the point of breaking even, thus making such a move a losing proposition.

These fucking bands who could do something about it are lazy or scared or both and it drives me nuts. People say things like “oh, it’s like punk rock summercamp” or ‘It’s great to be able to sell so much merch and only play for half an hour.” Fuck all that. The warped tour sucks and I don’t give a shit how many of your friends are on it or how fucking little you have to work in order to get paid. Chances are, if you’re in a big punk rock band you got into this with at least an inkling of a feeling that doing something that can completely thrive in an alternative, underground economy was pretty cool, and now, they’re sitting on their busses letting all that be destroyed…actively participating in destroying it even! And the reasons for doing it are so fucking shallow. I mean, my shitty little band tours up against the warped tour every summer, so I’d assume that any band could. They’re just complacent and until more people start realizing how completely shitty the whole thing is, it’s not going to go away. It’s just gonna get worse.

i think kelly has it right...while i used to like against me, and im still a fan of the 90's skate punk acts that occasionally poke their heads out for a few warped tour dates, as a whole the tour is complete garbage...as rollins and shatner would say, "i cant get behind that!!"

i agree with everything he says except this... if warped tour is the only punk show that comes a city every summer, then thats only one day out of the entire summer that is booked... so unless you chose to play on the day of the warped tour, you're not really competing with them per se

Honestly, I agree quite a bit with Mr. Kelly. But the problem for us is like, its either go to the warped tour and deal with all the bullshit, or miss our favorite fucking bands each summer. I mean, there are still some awesome tours coming around and I'll always go to those, but how much does it suck for us that we have no other choice to see NOFX and Bad Religion (that latter of whom haves't played a non-warped tour south florida date in as long as I can remember).

I used to like the warped tour. I went to it two years straight. I used to think, yeah this is cool, all these bands get together in one place and maybe some fashion headed kid will become turned onto punk after seeing a band like Against Me or The Unseen or something. Now I have realized the whole fest revolves around money and really doesn’t represent anything about punk (the recycling tent is cool I guess). I will never go to a Warped Tour again unless Minor Threat, the original Misfits, or some other ridiculous old school band who I will never have a chance to see perform live are playing. I wonder if there has ever been a protest outside of the Warped Tour. Sounds like a good idea to me. My memories of warped tour will forever be Billy Idol, Joan Jett, Far from Finished, NOFX (just to see how shitty they really are when they play), and The Offspring. All bands I ha

I know what you mean. I definitely have less fun each year and last year will have been my last attendance. In fact, I only went because my girlfriend talked me in to going. And I would sure hope that if for some reason Glenn got back with the Misfits that their reunion would not be a part of tour. I would seriously have to consider writing them off at that point.

I'm sort of in his same position. I went in 05 and 06 however I remember distinctly seeing Strike Anywhere, Strung Out, NUFAN, The Unseen, Rise Against, Anti-Flag, Less Than Jake, NOFX (whose performance I greatly appreciated), Saves the Day (they played some older stuff I knew, it was nice), and some other smaller bands that weren't terribly great. The thing is that between six and eight years ago, that caliber lineup would be one year, not a combination of two. This past summer's tour was a joke. Bad Religion and Pennywise were the only bands even making me thinking about going, but I decided shelling out 40 bucks for two thirty minute sets wasn't worth it.

I'm not saying I "used to like" it, just that I at least had hope a couple years ago that it might start back up and be good again, but this year I was proven horribly wrong.

As much as I love Against Me! I still won't go to Warped Tour. It seems boring and completely absurd. Go to a massive show with a ton of stupid kids in the hot sun to see a thirty minute set while buying 6 dollar water. Sounds like FUN!

It was kind of fun to see Against Me at Lollapalooza because nobody knew who they were so they had to win everyone over all over again. I can't imagine their half hour outdoor set when you're 200 yards away and there's a billion people there. This will be the first time they've come through Chicago and I haven't seen them in about four years. That includes seeing them twice last week.

I just want to say this, I have never been to a Warped Tour, and I take pride in that.

The fact that Against Me is playing is kind of depressing, since you know, they are complete chach-skis for selling out (not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but for an outspoken, nu-speak, politico punk outfit like them, they pretty much diminished themselves to a mere punky Pete Went with their recent record, and I think most can agree with that). Also, The Devil Wears Prada can blow me. Seriously. It's sickening to see these guys and bands like Boys Lik Girls play at something that has set grounds for bands like NOFX, The Unseen, Bad Religion, and many many more bands who are way more credible.

But the Bronx is sweet...

They don't really deserve any of it. Times change, people change, ideas change. People grow, why can NO ONE accept that about this band???

NOFX wrote a song about how Vegetarians were retarded. Now they mostly are. Is the only reason why they don't get shit because they aren't garnering a decent amount of radio play?

well, 2003(i think) was the last warped i went to. it was pretty decent excluding good charlotte,311, and alien ant farm. hell, me first, bouncing souls,h20,rancid, ect. i saw so many good bands in years prior to that one as well. VGS, hot water music, snapcase, bosstones, good riddance, no use, deviates,one man army, flogging molly, nofx, bad religion, the list goes on and on.

now we have the Devil wears Prada, whom you would have to PAY ME 30 bucks to listen to. it such a short time this tour has gone from the shit to shit.

ps, i've never heard Against Me

i'm 26 and after a shitty breakup went from 181 to 166 pounds. i've stopped losing weight but i am still a little flabby. how can i harden up my mid section. crunches seem to be working only real slow and really it's not that much. i drink a lot of beer. is my only option to quit all the booze. i do lots of running. 4 miles 5 times a week. any suggestions on how to stop this plateau i've hit and get a little more hard/lean?
