Distorted Magazine names Outl4w, Anti-Nowhere League, Dropkicks as best of 2007

Popular UK-based punk magazine, Distorted, has published the results of their reader poll. The magazine asked readers to name the best bands and albums of 2007.

Coming out at the top was UK-based Outl4w with the Anti-Nowhere League taking the second spot. Rounding out third place was the only non-UK band on the list, Dropkick Murphys.

The members of "Outl4w" (aww, the number is a letter) appear to be 12. What the fuck? Judging from their patches and studs, they probably suck, a la, Orange.

Anti-Nowhere League? Seriously? The band that had one good song in like 1979?

Dropkick Murphys. That doesn't even require a "WTF?"

OK, just listened to Outlaw, and, well, they're better than expected. Mediocre street punk. However, something about the band seems waaaaaay too slick - like, there's something more than a little disingenuous about them.

This is a joke right? I checked out that Outlaw thing and it looks like they are 12 year olds who play primarily to indifferent 12 year olds. If the dudes in your pictures don't even look stoked I can't imagine you're that good.

A little kid street punk band? Really?
Here's an update: 85%% of the street punk bands out there are KIDS ranging from the ages of 10-17. And even if they do sound good, is it really necessary to put them at number 1? I would like to think that American SteeI did a much better job, and also The Unseen (even though it's not the best of their work). I mean, I haven'tbeen able to listen to every new record this year, but something other than, OUTL4W.

Ugh.. Just spelling it makes my turtle crawl into it's shell.

Dropkick put out a fairly awesome CD for once (no offense or anything but the whole Irish punk deal gets a little redundant) they should at least make 2nd! At least their songs are about kicking ass on the schoolyard. Something these outl4w kids probably know nothing about.

And Anti-Nowhere League? Really?

If you shaved the lead singer's head then he would pretty much be that dude from the bowflex commercials. It's just typical Brit punk. A bunch of Crass wannabes who are washed up.

Come on, there has to be something that came out this year that topped the band with the 4 in it's name. At least. I mean, they are all ok in certain repspects and no dissing on the music they make, but seriously... something else, PLEASE?

I'm not going to speculate on the kind of music you listen to, but you obviously know nothing about early punk rock. Crass is a left wing crust band. arguably the first. Anti-Nowhere league is a rebellious nihilistic bunch of thugs who made some of the most delightfully disturbing and foul-mouthed songs ever made. Also neither of the bands music sounds antything like the other. Think befor type. and if you don't know what you're talking about. shut the fuck up for everyone's sake.

What is with everybody? So what if your favorite band didn't win or wasn't featured in this readers poll (yes, it was a readers poll, by the way...)?

I don't get all the hate for the three bands were are mentioned?

Does it matter that Outl4w won? Who cares.

Maybe perhaps we should all vote next year, if they do a readers poll again, and make sure the bands we love are put in the top spots.

But I do want to say that Distorted is pretty damn cool, and I'll be checking it out every month - hell, I even signed up their mailinglist.
