John Reis, the mastermind behind Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes, Rocket From the Crypt and Swami Records will be releasing his new album on March 25, 2008.
The band is not yet named, but will include Gar Wood (Hot Snakes, Beehive & the Barracudas), Jason Kourkounis (Hot Snakes, Mule, Delta 72), and Montreal export, Tommy Kitsos (CPC Gangbangs). The recording was done over 4 months in Swami's City Of Refuge studio that replaced their Drag Racist studio, which met its ashy demise in 2003. The group recorded 20 songs of which 13 are scheduled to appear on the album. Along with the release, the band is promising a healthy touring schedule for 2008 Swami Records (24 comments)

This sounds like it might be awesome, as long as its not called Speedo. That would have seemed like a sort of Reis ego trip, if he named the band after himself.

I've just been getting into Hot Snakes recently; everything I've heard by them is really really good. I actually haven't heard much/any of his other, older bands, though I've read their names plenty of times. 1+ Reply

rftc is easily one of my 2 or 3 favorite bands ever but i've never been able to get into any of speedo's other bands (outside of the sultans), hot snakes included. 4+ Replies

Even though I'm grateful that John Reis is still making new music, I just wish they got Rick to do vocals. | Features
