Modern Machines writing, planning new 7"

The Modern Machines' have posted an update on their future plans. The band announced:

We're writing and learning new songs at our hideout in Ridgewood, Queens. We're driving around in Danny's Chevy coupe, playing nearby cities and towns for the sake of punk rock and roll. And soon, we'll record a 7", for the spring. We'll tour the eastern half of the US, then. By then, we won't be called the Modern Machines Hovercraft, I hope!

Oh, right. The band's calling themselves the Modern Machines Hovercraft apparently. We're not sure how serious they are. The band's most recent full length was 2006's 'Take It, Somebody!', which arrived via Dirtnap.

Hey, those are going to be collercotrs items some day (at least they hope fans think they will be)!
They could have made more but they intentionally limited the number of colored copies they produced so people will have more desire to buy them.
What an ingenious idea! how punk rock.

i wasn't saying it was good or bad, just that they go for crazy amounts of money.

and as for it being punk rock...i think that you could argue that limiting the number of copies is pretty punk rock. look at smaller labels, they run sub 500 press runs of records all the time, and people love them for it.

they've had a hand in creating something that pays their bills, their own way. it doesn't get much more punk rock than that, does it?

are they artificially controlling the supply of something they could make more of easily? sure. but so what? it's theirs to do with if they please.

besides, how cool does it feel to some fan kid who ends up with a super rare color variation of their favorite record, instead of the same as all the other 10000 kids with the same record. sort of like how whenever vinyl file talks about a band that had something come out on epitaph, and they don't keep track of color variation numbers. it doesn't seem quite so cool...

ok, with this post, i guess i was editorializing a bit. but the previous one, not so much.

Anyone got a good grilled cheese recipe?

use wheat/rye bread

butter one side of each piece of bread
put the two pieces butter-side down on your griddle (or whateva)
put cheese on top of unbuttered-side of bread (which should be facing up)
after the cheese melts a little bit, put one piece of bread (now with melted cheese on it) on top of the other
let that sandwich cook on that side for about 2-4 minutes
flip
cook on other side for 2-4 minutes

you need:

some kind of crusty bread...
earth balance fake butter
some tofutti better than cream cheese
fresh basil
fresh tomato

slice the tomato
tear the basil.
make a sandwich out of the bread, lettuce, basil, and cream cheese.
heat some butter.
fry it up. the tofutti cream cheese softens, but doesn't quite melt, but i dare you to not eat an entire container of cream cheese in one sitting...

you can substitute dairy ingredients if you'd like.
