Tours: Hot Water Music SXSW appearance planned

Details on Hot Water Music's reunion plans are still slowly being revealed. It now appears that the band will appear at the South By Southwest music festival in Austin, TX this coming March. The confirmed tour dates so far include support bands like Lucero, The Lawrence Arms, Static Radio NJ, HiFi Handgrenades, Able Baker Fox, Samiam and Cutman.

The band is touring in support of their upcoming compilation Til The Wheels Fall Off, due out January 22, 2008.

trust me, the thought had definitely crossed my mind for the NJ date

unfortunately, i don't think it's going to work out because i have to be in a work seminar/course thing until 4:30 on that day

couple that with a 3hr+ drive during Friday rush hour

hopefully they'll get a few more east coast dates sometime this year

hopefully, but that seminar/course is that whole week so it will depend on how busy i am...these damn business certification courses can have thick books of material and exams sometimes

So stoked for Gaslight and Lagrecia. Whatever Jason is up to these days I'm interested in.

I'm gonna go OFF at the SA/PiB show. I haven't seen the former in years and never seen the latter at all. PiB is one of those bands that makes me want to start a fight and then hug someone. Almost definitely calling in sick to work the next day.

Are you going to the Low Budgets show at the Velvet Lounge later this month? I don't know how big a fan you are of buzzsaw pop-punk/the Dead Milkmen.

i haven't heard the band, although i've heard of them and like the style you described

doubtful though if that venue is in DC...i usually only drive down from Baltimore if the shows are really good, everyone seems to be hitting DC instead of Baltimore early in '08

Yeah, the Velvet Lounge is two blocks from the 9:30 Club. It's one of my favorite rock clubs ever. The beer fridge is a iced up cooler and the bartender is the old-school dude who lives with a bunch of crackheads. The upstairs is where the stage is, and the room can hold maybe 75 people. It's one of those starter venues - the one place that almost any local act can get a gig. It's the best place in town to see new talent. I saw the Points there once opening for the Hall Monitors and it was like a bomb went off - thought the floor was going to collapse.

I think I can pull of sxsw! Austin is a great town and I've got frequent flier miles to burn. Don't know if Jersey is even a possibility, so pissed that I'm going to miss Gaslight...

100% agreed upon. I've got to catch these guys again before they crawl back in their holes. As great as the Draft and Chuck are, together they produce some of the best live shows I've ever seen.

If I had the coin, I'd be down for a Florida date. Like we say out here, Florida is the poor mans California.

It was because of constant touring with the band. He's got his own thing. I'm SURE he won't object to the occasional 3-4 week tour.

Notice that these dates all correspond nicely with days off in Chuck's solo tour. The Draft should do a tour at the same time and they can play against each other every night.

I just started pumping myself up for the 2 Chicago shows on Feb. 1 and 2 a few days ago.

The only CDs I've been bringing in my car are: every HWM release, plus The Draft, Blacktop Cadence, Cro(w)s, Rumbleseat, and Chuck Ragan.

I'm not even half-done, but I imagine I'll start over again once I've listened to them all.

Same here. A few days ago I decided to listen to every HWM album in chronological order. I'm on Caution and now I don't think I could listen to anything else if I tried. I think the rest of the month is just gonna be HWM and all the side projects.

It's a fun thing to do.

From about November 26th(?) to December 29th(?), all I listened to was The Mighty Mighty Bosstones entire discography, plus all the bootlegs, etc., etc.
The one that got the most play was "Medium Rare", obviously... I think I listened to it about 30 times last month.
