The Black Keys enlist Danger Mouse for next album

The Black Keys have enlisted uber-producer Danger Mouse to record their upcoming fifth album. Danger Mouse aka Brian Joseph Burton is the producer behind albums like Gnarls Barkley, The Gorillaz' Demon Days and The Good, the Bad and the Queen.

The record is titled Attack & Release and is due out April 01, 2008.

the only melt banana i have is teeny shiny. songs 4 & 5 on that album rule completely. but that album gives me the feeling that that album is probably one of their weakest to a melt banana fan. its hard for me to say though cause i haven't exactly heard the rest of them. what are your thoughts wentz equals death?

well, i think cell-scape is held to be their best, a great mix of "pop" and experimentation, but i gotta say i just got bambi's dilemma a couple months ago and it is probably my favorite purchase of 07.

it feels like the perfect album for someone in their 20's who still has a soft spot for all the skatepunk he grew up with, but also understands that there's no point in listening to NOFX clones all his life. it's fresh and new, the production is great, ... the last song is unexpected... a band that started off with ten-second songs shouldn't be making something so epic.

and, finally, i don't think anything beats a melt banana show.

Ive got two melt banana related tattoos and my favorite record is easily Scratch Or Stitch. Definently one of the top 5 live band playing right now and theyve been absolutley sick with those 70 song sets with dave witte drumming. Cellscape is probably my least favorite, i still spin it and enjoy it but the production doesnt really make them shine as much as other records.

Check out their records in chronological order and youre bound to find something that sticks, probably the mid 90s stuff.

this is awesome news. honestly, as much as i like this band, there is little to no differential between all four records. hopefully, DM can shake shit up a little bit.
