VBS.tv talks to Penny Rimbaud of Crass

VBS.tv recently sat down with legendary Crass drummer and writer Penny Rimbaud. The five part series takes place in Vice Magazine's Old Blue Last pub and features reflections on Dial House, pop music and the overlooked legacy of Crass in the modern day and age.

As always, the interview was conducted by Soft Focus' resident host Ian Svenonius who some may remember from notable Dischord act Nation of Ulysses.

I love Soft Focus, mainly for it's always intelligent, probing and insightful host, Ian Svenonius. I recently discovered he had written a book a year or two back, purchased and read it. It's called 'The Psychic Soviet' and is very very good. It's a collection of essays on music, economics, religion, culture, geopolitics and how they all tie in together in often unlikely ways. I wholeheartedly endorse it.

If anyone gets more time to sniff around VBS.TV you should watch the documentary they did on strip mining (titled Toxic West Virginia). If you live in Western PA, West Virginia and Maryland especially. I never realized how much bullshit the coal industry pulls all around the area where I grew up. It's very well done and a very worthy watch.

Soft Focus is a great show.. the interview with Genesis P.Orridge was really cool, and Ian's comment during his session with Ian Mackaye was priceless:

"Ian's radical challenge to corporate hegemony has been compared to the Visigoths storming the roman empire"
