Shout Factory have set a release date for the upcoming DVD of the documentary, Kurt Cobain: About a Sun. The disc is due out February 19, 2008 and features a narrative assembled from more than 25 hours of interviews conducted by notable music journalist Michael Azerrad (Our Band Could Be Your Life)
The film is largely autobiographical with Kurt talking about his upbringing through his discovery of punk rock and the band's eventual (massive) success as well as his problems with heroin and his relationship with Courtney Love. The film features an original score by Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie as well as selections from many of Kurt's favorite bands including the Vaselines, Black Flag, and many more. Will this be about our Solar System's sun? Or a different one?

Hopefully this biopic will go into an in depth discussion of how films such as this and posthumous lists of influential rock figures have turned Cobain into the iconic figure that he never wanted to become! 1+ Reply

For the love of anything you have faith in NO MORE KURT COBAIN DOCUMENTARIES! This is like right after he died and all those books came out, it was horrible then its horrible now.

i liked the man while alive as an artist and thought he had alot of good points which were made bovious through his lyrics..but now that he's gone, i prefer to concentrate on the living, and not dwell on the past..also, courtney love is a creative consultant on this film..so nuts to that hoebag getting any more credit and cash for his efforts.

he was perfectly happy till the age of 8. Must have been nice. I lost that at 5. Yet I've outlived this motherfucker by three years now and have nothing. And still the last quote during that trailer is about him not wanting to abandon his daughter like his dad did him. Ugh.

Writers always produce one critically lauded general rock book, then write about Green Day or Nirvana, then disappear. | Features

ugh. you know, i liked nirvana as much as the next guy and i was sad to see cobain go. but, is this necessary? i guess you could say that about a lot of things these days.
