The Modern Machines become The Used Kids

Modern Machines have renamed themselves The Used Kids. The band has also posted an update on some of their plans for 2008:

We're recording at the end of the month for a few 7"s. We're going to have an e.p. in the spring on Salinas, and a split 7" with the Modern Machines (!) a little later. The MoMacs half will be two songs from our last recording session, the one that produced (for example) our split with the Measure SA.

Looks like there's a tour in the works to the Upper Midwest and back in April; then, this summer, a bigger one to other places.

The band released 'Take It, Somebody!' in 2006.

yeah I agree, Modern Machines wasn't that great, but The Used Kids sounds pretty naff.

the used kids sounds like the cartoon name of the band the used, portrayed as crime fighting kids for saturday morning cartoons.

modern machines should avoid this decision like the plague.

the blog on their website says that's who they are named after. they've spent hundreds to thousands of dollars on records there so they thought they could get some free records by throwing out some free publicity. they said is one of the top 5 records stores in the US.

They also said the band name is Used Kids, the Used Kids, but never The Used Kids. they basically don't want a capital T, but I say when you have a bad band name, I can spell it however the fuck I want.

Modern Machines was a reference to the Crowd song, wasn't it? Either way the Crowd rules, and more people should be stoked on the re-release of Letter Bomb.

I'm pretty stoked on this. I think the reason for the change is that they aren't the same band they were when they lived in Milwaukee. They said a while ago they were broken up and 2 of them were starting a new band, but then they ended up getting some folks to fill in I believe and played a few more shows at the MoMacs. If it's half as good as the last full length, it should be worth checking out.
