Coachella 2008 with Breeders, Minus the Bear, Gogol Bordello, Flogging Molly, Turbonegro

Coachella has announced the lineup for the 2008 edition of the annual festival. The three day event is set for April 25th, 26th and 27th. The three day event will feature a variety of acts including Les Savy Fav, Death Cab for Cutie, Breeders, Minus the Bear, Gogol Bordello, Roger Waters, Enter Shikari, Scars on Broadway, Jens Lekman, The Horrors, Manchester Orchestra and more.

If you haven't heard, Goldenvoice started a country festival the week after Coachella called Stagecoach. They seem to be in the habit of crossing one of the performers over to Coachella. Last year it was Willie Nelson.

as a person that doesnt like this sort of music....i am un-impressed with this line-up. typically i can tell if a festival is good, even if its "indie crap".

only bands id see:

- Gogol Bordello (obvi)

Supposedly they'll be having an east coast Coachella in August, in New York, first confirmed band being Radiohead.

sooo..... out of 40 or so bands there are 2 that I would want to see (Turbonegro and Flogging Molly). Looks like I'll skip this one.

Worst headliners in recent memory. They traded their usual 90's nostalgia for early 70's nostalgia and capitulated to the Abercrombie-surfer/college-hippie set.

These are the bands worth seeing. This lineup is a lot better then you people are making it out to be. Still can't afford it. Sucks, I would really love to see The Breeders again.

Some dude I talked to at a party had no idea who Archers of Loaf were, yet insisted I should listen to Death Cab for Cutie. Some people.

He also said about The Replacements: "Yeah, they were pretty good. They had good production."

I don't see how no one has heard of Archers. So many times in conversations about music I bring up Crooked Fingers. Everytime someone asks "Who are they" I ask "Have you heard of Archers of Loaf?" and so far it's a perfect 196899 for 196899 that the answer is "no".

Shit, I was living out in freakin' Jakarta, Indonesia for most of the 90's and I listened to Archers....basically all we got out there was the bigger stuff from the states so I don't see how very few people have heard of them...

I just listened to Crooked Fingers, Archers of Loaf, Death Cab for Cutie... i have never heard of any of these bands and no wonder... they are slow and boring. I couldnt even imagine making love to someone who INSISTED we listen to this music. indienews.org?? I never get any good references from this site... punk has become the broadest of terms.... alright now tear me apart while i listen to Regan Youth...

some great bands, but it looks like coachella is slowly becoming the warp tour where bands are being recycled every couple of years. Cool to see Roger Waters on the bill...but it definitely looks like the hipster olympics 08

Brochella is NOT worth standing out in the sun for 12 hours. It's a decent show but for nearly $100 ticket (each day) and the 90-100 degree temperature (it actually hit 105 when I went) it's a fucking miserable time.

turbonegro, gogol bordello, and flogging molly(just barely makes the list) are the only bands worth seeing at this 300 dollar shitfest. They all tour regularly and can be seen on different nights with a price cheaper than one night of coachella.

Well, Coachella isn't a punk festival...but I thought people knew that. It seems like a festival that attracts the most random artists from many different genres. That being said, there are still many great artists on the bill and some of the ones we haven't heard of are probably decent. Here are my picks:

i see alot of good bands on this bill. an event where i can see minus the bear, gogol bordello, my morning jacket, death cab for cutie, animal collective, john butler trio, and vampire weekend is good enough, and alot of these other bands i totally wouldn't mind checking out. i think most of these naysayers just don't see names they recognize and are assuming these bands suck. or they're closeminded punks. what are punk kids even listening to anymore? you hate everything
