by the_problem_with_fire on 2008-02-07 23:19:30 i would have like to see them play milk lizard instead, this is a pretty different song for DEP to be playing for their first time on TV, though I guess at the same time it's more accessible for most people over their other material. fairly tame performance but you have to take into consideration the song they were playing, which isn't really insane like most of their work. also, what is with the new guitarist's hair style? seems very avenged sevenfold and something DEP would usually harass people about.

I was worried that them playing their obvious poppy song would turn out lame and maybe make me lose respect for them, but they fucking pulled it off way better than I could've expected.

Unlike here, where most fans and a lot of regular people were probably let down.

I was really, really hoping they'd play "Milk Lizard" with the horn section from the Max Weinberg 7 backing them up. I've seen heavier songs played on Conan before, so it's not like the producers asked them to not play it; they chose to play this one instead.

by opsdrummer on 2008-02-08 16:06:45 http://www.myspace.com/orangepeelsunshine a good performance of a shitty song. i would've figured that these guys were going to go balls to the wall with fix your face, 43% burnt, or something more energetic. the heavy interlude gives you an idea of what one of the aforementioned songs would've come off like on the show. amazing. yet they had to pick a straight-forward song like "black bubblegum," that in my opinion wouldn't even win new fans over that could stomach it. the melody is boring, repetitive, and really shows how bad greg's voice really is. dillinger is best when they are thrashing your face off, and even though it may not come off as radio-friendly, i think the technicality, speed, and time-signature changes are what would actually win new fans over. still this was a good take, but the song just blows. oh well. maybe they'll get another chance on late night and actually take advantage of it.
