Iggy and the Stooges (European festivals)

Iggy and the Stooges are scheduled to play a number of European festival dates this summer in support of their recent full length The Weirdness. This includes Spain's Electric Weekend alongside Rage Against The Machine, Belgium's TW Classic with the Police, the UK's Isle of Wight Festival with the Sex Pistols (and Police again), and Germany's Rock Am See.

The godfather of punk recently collaborated with big beat star Fatboy Slim on a track titled "He's Frank." The song appeared in a club scene on the recent Heroes episode "Four Months Ago" and should end up on Slim's next record.

Yikes. Ignorance is bliss I suppose. Its debatable that there is any such thing as punk rock today, but in the Stooges heyday it wasnt, and they were there in the very beginning.

Thats pretty funny. As old as these bastards are they are still better live than most young bands today.

i saw them last year. one of the best shows i've ever seen. maybe the fact that i saw them in a club vs a big outdoor festival had something to do with it.

Search and Destroy is definitely my pick for the greatest rock'n'roll song of all time. that encompasses everything you could fit under the "rock" banner....rock'n'roll, punk, metal...Search and Destroy, greatest song of all time.

Thats a kickass song. Wish they recorded more with Williamson. sucks they dont paly anything off raw power live anymore.

yeah. the whole controversy and bad blood between iggy and the rest of the band as a result of working/shacking up with bowie during the making of raw power has really put a damper on them playing the raw power stuff live. shame too, because along with search and destroy being probably one of my favorite songs of all time, if not THE most favorite, raw power is definitely up there in terms of my favorite albums of all time.

i still need to check out Metallic KO (the live album chronicling one of the last few stooges shows with williamson as part of the lineup) and Kill City (the iggy/williamson joint from '77)

Yeah I saw em in Boston last year and it was great. Better than expected, but I'd love to see em again but drop the new stuff and throw some raw power and more s/t in their. Cant go wrong with funhouse though.

Metallic KO is pretty cool, but I dont think its all its hyped up to be. The sound quality is pretty bad, still its worth a listen. I wouldnt throw a ton of money at it. I can hook u up if u want.

Kill City is pretty cool. Johana is such a badass song, but I like the version on Year of the Iguana better.
