Tours: Hot Water Music adds a few shows

Gainesville favorites Hot Water Music have added a few appearances to their ongoing period of reunion tour. The band has added a new gig in Germany following their previously announced festival dates. The band will also now take part in the Bamboozle Left festival in Irvine, California this April.

The band is together again to support their Til The Wheels Fall Off b-sides collection, which was released on January 22 by No Idea Records.

I suppose if they were playing the same day as Face to Face, that'd be cool, but as it stands, they are playing on the same day as Blacq Audio. That's just gross.

I really like him. I haven't heard the earlier stuff from when they were just Spearheads, but the Disposable heroes of Hiphopresy stuff is also gold (especially the Dead Kenedys cover). One of the best shows I've seen in almost 20 years of going to shows was when I saw him in Quebec city last summer, while on vacation.

Franti is cool, but he's really a bit obnoxious living in the Bay Area. If you keep clear of his weird public profile and focus on the music he's a sure hit. I personally prefer "Home" to any of his other releases, it's just so damned raw. Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy and Beatnigs were good too but I prefer Spearhead.

Agreed, Forever and Counting is my personal favorite. Although Caution was the best of the epitaph era.

Although I'll be honest, taken out of context of the other albums, The New What Next grew on me a lot.

Favorite song is "Better Sense", and to be honest I think the two Alkaline Trio covers they did might trump a lot of stuff they've done.

if u like that era of HWM...i don't understand how you can pick forever and counting over Fuel for the hate game. I feel the songs on FFTHG are so much more memorable.

Agreed. Definitely the best of the Epitaph era/more polished HWM albums.

No Division is my favorite of the older/rawer records.

On No Division, though, you can hear them shifting gears a bit towards what would be their later sound. "Free Radio Gainesville" would not have been out of place on either A Flight and a Crash or Caution.

Yes. I have no idea why that album is so hated on. I love them all and liked Flight and a Crash from the first listen.

Nah, not really, I think it's the best of the epitaph era, but as all of those records, it's kind of boring in the long run. It doesn't have the groove of no division neither the insane distortion of FFTHG. Probably number two/three overall though, because of The Sense, Wayfarer, Not For Anyone and Trusty Chords.
By the way, does George Rebelo use a double pedal on the early records, if not his right foot is fucking insane

Totally agree...not to hate on the opinions of the many Epitaph-exclusive HWM fans, but if you took away the production that Caution had and just gave it the production of say Forever and Counting...it wouldn't be as good. I don't think the songs would stand up on their own the way the ones on FFTHG would. I get the feeling that a lot of the aforementioned niche of HWM fans wouldn't be able to get past the production on it the same way a lot of them can't on the older records. Maybe I'm just generalisin'.

Allmusicguide.com rates FFTHG as HWM's best album for a reason. 220 Years is a great opening track, the first half of the songs on Fuel have amazing choruses and so much more energy than any record they've done. People say Caution has great choruses, but not as good as these ones.
