Washington, DC's Bad Brains recent appearance on MTV is now available online. The set is part of the television channel's 52/52 campaign. Each band selected is given a week's worth of coverage. Previous bands featured include Against Me!, Tegan And Sara, and Paramore.
The band released Build a Nation, their first studio album in a over decade in 2007. It was produced by Adam Yauch (Beastie Boys). You can check out the video here. Megaforce Records (26 comments)

Some girl in my high school actually told me about this and i thought she was out of her fuckin' mind but she was right. at first i was mortified, i mean, bands like the Bad Brains are supposed to be the antithesis of MTV and the mindless drones that follow it, but i came to realize that any raver/guido waste of life that watched this stuff probably overlooked it. so don't burn your Bad Brains cd's yet folks, it aint what it looks like!! 1+ Reply

I can't believe people are really that surprised by this. They never really seemed to care about how the punk/hardcore community felt about them, and probably always would've done this sort of thing. By the time I against I came out they didn't mind alienating the crowd by playing mostly reggae live, and they had stints on Epic and Maverick records. I absolutely love some Bad Brains releases but they haven't exactly been upstanding members of the "punk rock scene" since the whole MDC/Dicks/Big Boys controversy. 1+ Reply

Are any of you fans of Prof. Cornell West? Did you catch his spots on MTV lately? What's up with that? It's probably a Black History Month thing. Seriously though, he's the coolest guy around. Glad his opinions and messages are getting out there.

everyone needs to get off their high fuckin' "punk-horses" and let it go. we get it, "MTV is so mainstream, no punk would ever go on MTV, blah, blah, blah-fuckin'-blah." 1+ Reply
