According to a report from their label, Against Me! has raised $18,000 for Harvest of Hope, the charity for whom they have performed numerous benefits over the past year.
The donation will enable Harvest of Hope to provide additional emergency and educational aid to migrant farmworkers and families across the country. Two concerts were held at Common Grounds in the band's hometown of Gainesville, Florida (home also of Harvest of Hope), one at the Metro in Chicago, the 40 Watt Club in Athens, Georgia and Juanita's in Little Rock, Arkansas. Since 1997, Harvest of Hope has distributed more than $614,000 in emergency and educational financial aid to migrant field workers and their families for car repairs due to breakdowns, housing, utilities, bus tickets, medical services, food, clothing, funeral expenses and scholarships for children of migrant farmworkers attending Speaking of acoustic performances, the band has released their live performance of "Baby I'm an Anarchist." Well, Green Day and the Offspring put their money where their mouth is on these things usually. Glad to see Against Me! is following suit.

Wow, $18,000? I'm impressed. I wonder how many of those benefits they sold out in order to make all that money?

I don't really care anyway because anyone who is pissed off at them clearly has not listened to "Exhaustion", or they are an asshole.

Dear Against Me! Fans:
Hi! This is Phil Kellerman, President of the Harvest of Hope Foundation for migrant farmworkers. I would like to express my appreciation to Against Me! for putting on five benefits and donating $18,000 from these benefits to Harvest of Hope. Most of the shows were sell-outs or close to it. Many people ask me how much Harvest of Hope has raised and how much has been distributed to provide emergency and educational aid to those who harvest and produce a large share of the fruits and vegetables we enjoy daily. As of February 27, 2008, Harvest of Hope has raised $784,000 and given out $623,000 for car repairs due breakdowns, gas, housing, utilities, bus tickets, medical services, food, clothing, funeral expenses and scholarships for children of migrant workers. This means that 80 cents of every dollar raised goes to aid migrant farmw show rest of comment | Features
