Alkaline Trio posts new studio update with Matt Skiba

Alkaline Trio have posted the third in their series of studio videos discussing the recording of their upcoming record and debut for Sony/BMG. In this addition, Matt Skiba shows some footage from the recording sessions and discusses the variety of "axes" used on the record.

In the time since their previous record the band signed to V2 Music, which shortly afterwards was shutdown, landing the act at major label Epic Records (which falls under the Sony-BMG umbrella). In the past few years the popular act released a rarities and b-sides compilation via Vagrant titled Remains and frontman Matt Skiba performed in the duo Heavens.

A reissue of the Trio's fan-favourite 1998 full length Goddamnit is due this March via Asian Man Records.

well, she wouldn't be the only one doing the shipping. the official asian man records employee ( such a thing does exist, i think they may have 2 actually) would help and she would ensure that things got carried out correctly, but she knows what she is doing regardless. she works with mike on a frequent basis so she has this kind of thing down.

Man, stupid ass Oklahoma weather. no-one's mentioned dead and broken or continental yet. singing along to jeff pezzatti's "whoooaa"s at the end of the former is always a laugh while drunk, as is trying to reach the highs in the last chorus of continental.

i got good mourning today. not enjoyed it much but it has its moments. on my disc track 2 and 3 aren't seperated properly; there's like a second of the third track at the end of we've had enough. anyone else's have that? i noticed it when i ripped the album to the computer.

looking forward to the re-release of goddamnit though

All the Dan songs are GOLD on Good Mourning. The Matt songs are really weak, though, compared to his earlier stuff. I'm a big Dan fan though so I love that record.

i noticed, in my opinion, all the tracks involving dan on the past two albums were the standout tracks of the album. well that is just me, not to say skiba didn't have a track or two that stood out, it just seemed dan had all the "hits".

Agreed, Dan KILLS IT on Good Mourning. Skiba does have his moments though but he also contributes the bulk of filler tracks.

Are you guys serious? I think Dan was like on drugs when he wrote his parts for Good Mourning.. they all suck. Matt's songs are amazing and the only thing that gets me through that record.. even the acoustic track. Just read Dan's lyrics, they don't even make sense half the time or come off really forced as if he's trying to compliment Matt's overall theme but can't naturally accomplish it..

From Here to Infirmary is my favorite record, but I think Crimson is their best in terms of overall theme and focus and it makes me really excited for their new record. As long as they don't listen to their fans and listen to themselves it should be an incredible record.

I have the same problem, it's the UK version right? It has Dead End Road and Old School Reasons on the end? I think that's just a problem with that version.

That being, said Good Mourning is by far their best album. It's perfect. Matt's voice should always sound that shitty and awesome.
