Yeah Sum 41 did it really well a few years back when the Strokes and the Vines and the Hives were huge.

The record label management guy told them that numbers were out and the word "the" was in. In the video, they had to change their name to 'The Sums'. It was really funny.

i've been listening to the copyrights "make sound" all day....actually been listening to nothing but the copyrights for the past couple weeks trying to figure out what the fuck the big deal is...am i missing something!? i've got make sound and mutiny pop...both decent albums...but it seems like everyone else hears these guys and gets a perma-boner immediately. don't get me wrong, i LIKE these records...but i certainly don't love them...do they have better albums i should be listening to?

If you're referring to A Wilhelm Scream as "asshats", then you clearly have never listened to them. EASILY one of the most talented bands today, both in musical ability and songwriting. And an unbelievable live band... and incredibly nice guys.

Actually yes! For real this time haha I am currently figuring out how someone with very little extra money lying around can put together some decent-quality packaging with solid artwork. As soon as I get that all figured out, I am gonna finish up a couple more songs and then get something out there. I would love to eventually put out a 7-inch or something too when I get some more money haha But anyway, thank you soooo much for asking and for actually caring. I promise I'll keep you updated as it all starts to come together in the next month or so!!

at 25, i've been going to punk/indie/underground shows since i was 12. i grew up in LA, now I live in NYC, between then i worked the "premiere" indie rock venue in Denver.

i've seen a lot of bands.

as pretentious and bullshited as this may sound, it takes a lot to impress me.

music, is obviously priority number one. if i don't like your music, i could give a fuck how you dress or how you perform. that being said, i guess I'm just jaded. you're a band, you're not just 4 random people on stage together. have some pride in how you present yourselves.

honestly, i always the thought the point of being in a band was that you could dress however the fuck you wanted and people had to accept it. and yea, i always gave bonus points to a band like AWS that look like normal joes when they come out and proceed to shred up more shit than 90% of the bands out there dressed in black leather and spikes and all pierced up.

however, it is kind of cool when a band like strung out comes out in matching black flag t-shirts and black pants. kind of sinister.

You may not like their music, but you can't say it's not good. These guys are some of the best musicians in punk or any genre of music for that matter. Both guitarists and especially the bassist kill. The drums are mind blowing and you can hear them get better on each release.
