Media: Cannabis Corpse: "Mummified in Bongwater"

Richmond, Virginia's Cannabis Corpse has posted a new song online titled "Mummified in Bongwater." The track will be featured on their April 20 release Tube of the Resinated.

C'mon, I don't mind people who smoke weed (even regularly) but there's a difference between a band who happens to sing about drinking and a band who was built on the foundation of getting people to spark up a doober and follow along with the lyrics so they could be transported into a horrific world where you are not safe from getting your weed stolen by bloodthirsty zombies or getting captured by an ancient cult that cultivates demonic weed with the blood and body parts of sacred ritual sacrifice!

Yeah, but this is just an obviously over the top joke.

Just saying, it gets just as old hearing so many punk bands singing using the same comparisons/themes/whatever in regards to drinking over and over again.

Anyway, I think most lyrics that have to do with getting obliterated on any drug are pretty damn boring to listen to. There's only a handful of bands that can even pull it off (see: Alkaline Trio).

Yeah, I can feel that. I actually have been moving on to other artists/habits. Austin Lucas' "Putting the Hammer Down" is a great record about heroin use.
I think any band who has a one joke gimmick is bound to get old (even the greats like Black Fag). You really need a deeper well to pull from (see: Arnocrops).

P.S. I hope I never come off like a dick to you about drug use. I truly love and respect you and would hate for my nondrug use to impact that love. I'm in the office right now and I think I'm losing my mind.

Yeah, it just needs to be done well. People whose opinions I trust keep praising Austin Lucas, really need to check that guy out.

Don't worry, I feel like a dick anytime I try and make a point on the internet. I always feel like I'm being pompous.

It's totally cool. Hopefully we can actually catch up for more than 5 minutes in between sets at the Fest this year!

I'll keep that in mind today when I leave my $70K total compensation a year job with benefits and stock options and go home to my fiance and dog to my nice city apartment in a nice neighborhood that I paid for all by myself!!

Although I'm not sure when I'll have time to re-assess my life between the birthday party for my nephew, going to the gym, and watching baseball high tonight!

Sorry to sound pompous, but this guy's being a total dick. Not to mention, don't you think it's kind of silly that you're talking about life after college when your URL would lead me to believe that you haven't even finished college?

I can't think of many examples to refute you offhand, but at least Cephalic Carnage and Six Feet Under constantly write songs about weed. Though SFO sucks major balls.

However, coke, H and booze are indeed way more kvlt.

now i feel sorry for that kid on the bike in the drive thru, although the one with the talking dog seems counter productive. If getting high made me understand my dog, I'd definitely get into that.

I really want to like this band because the schtick is hilarious, but they aren't talented at all and the music is really bland. It would be a lot funnier if they were actually anywhere near as proficient as Cannibal Corpse.
