Tim Kasher (Cursive, Good Life) has film in the works

Tim Kasher, brainchild behind Cursive and the Good Life, is working on his first film titled "Help Wanted, Nights." According to the LA Times financing has been secured and casting is about to begin.

Apparently Kasher has moved from his hometown of Omaha to LA in pursuit of his film career:

[...] it's not a friendly city to a drinker, though me and my friend ride our bikes down to the Gold Line. It's such a sprawling city. In Omaha, a big hike to meet friends was like three miles. Here you drive 11 miles and you're only in Los Feliz.

Help Wanted Nights was a great album. Not as good as Album of the Year, but definitely solid.
And I pretty much dig anything Kasher does, so I'm interested to see what happens with this project.

i wholeheartedly disagree. album of the year just seemed like it was too formulaic. although, help wanted nights was just damn good.

This will undoubtedly be one of the best albums of the year. I still can't get enough of Happy Hollow.

i couldn't get into happy hollow at all. i love domestica and ugly organ, but happy hollow seemed to only have 2 or 3 really great tracks (Rise Up, Rise Up was fantastic), a bunch of average ones, and a couple of duds (big bang being the first that comes to mind).

nevertheless, i have high hopes for the new album.

Happy Hollow was a grower. I always encourage people to give it a few more listens even when they feel it's a disappointment. It took me several months to truly appreciate it.

I didn't like it at all at first. The only song that I really liked was the last song for a long time. But, I would put my iPod on shuffle and songs from Happy Hollow would come up from time to time and I really started to appreciate the songs one at a time. I would still say it is my least favorite Cursive album, but that still means it is better than a lot of that crap out there. I heard a couple of the new songs when they played in Omaha a few months back and they were really good. I can't wait to see them again in May.

Tim Kasher is perhaps the brains, or the creative talent, or whatever, behind them.

The bands are his brainchildren. Not the other way around.

anyone who has seen the Good Life live knows it is essentially Kasher's drunken sad rants. i want my money back.
