Mike Ness, Jellow Biafra, Kevin seconds signed guitar auction for Mike Conley Memorial Fund

In order to benefit the Mike Conley Family Memorial Fund, an acoustic guitar signed by Mike Ness (Social Distortion), Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys, Jello Biafra With The Melvins) and Kevin Seconds (7 Seconds) and others has been listed for auction on ebay. The guitar was signed by every member of every band that played the "Beautiful Noise" benefit concert on April 28th at the Anaheim, CA House of Blues.

Other signatures include members of M.I.A., Social Distortion, Cadillac Tramps, Jigsaw and Naked Soul. The guitar is a Fender Sonora, and the auction can be found here, of which 100% of money raised will go towards the Mike Conley Family Memorial Fund.

Anyone see The Orphanage yet? I was a little disappointed when I saw that Del Toro just produced it and didn't direct it, but it was pretty good. I was sort of subconsciously holding it up to the standard of Pan's Labyrinth thinking Del Toro directed it. It reminded me a lot of The Others meets The Sixth Sense at first but I thought it was better than either of those.

i thought it was really good. i saw it in the theater and it was really creepy. but, the ending just made me feel good. i thought it was an excellent detachment from the crap that they are calling horror right now (i.e. one missed call, prom night, you get my point). plus, it was shot beautifully and had a tone that made me feel like i was watching a film instead of a piece of shit movie. don't get me wrong, i love cheesy horror, but they don't do it like they used to.

I hear ya. The colors and tone reminded me of an old giallo ala Lucio Fulci or Dario Argento. There was some really good phsychological elements and tension, and the characters definitely had some weight to them. I miss good horror as well. I don't remember the last good horror flick I saw. Maybe the Exorcism of Emily Rose?

exorcism of emily rose was horrible. the last good horror movie i saw was this film called [rec] from spain. of course hollywood is redoing it with american actors and i'm sure it will have lots of cheap thrills and jumps. why is the american movie-going public so against reading subtitles? they'd rather have shitty blockbuster actors completely ruin good cinema so they don't have to read a few subtitles. pisses me off!

I'll have to keep an eye out for REC. Sounds very cool from the Wiki description. I wish I had a good video rental store near me. I'm stuck with Family Video or Blockbuster.

And Control needs a US release already. I've waited long enough, damnit.

Hate to seem so ignorant, but can someone tell me who Mike Conley is and what it was that led to his passing. With so many names coming together in his memory I'm sure he was someone great with an untimely death.

yeah its a great idea to auction off a signed guitar for charity but its a horrible idea to offer absolutely no information about the cause. I guess money > awareness
