The Clash, Blondie, Sonic Youth join "Rock Band"

Popular rhythm games Rock Band and Guitar Hero continue to mine classic punk rock for playable tracks. Next week, Rock Band will be adding The Clash's "Train in Vain" from London Calling, Blondie's version of The Nerves' "Hanging on the Telephone" and Sonic Youth's "Kool Thing" from Goo.

Last week, competing game Guitar Hero confirmed that At the Drive-In will be appearing on the fourth edition of their game.

actually there are already a few songs that both games have... interestingly enough they play pretty differently too. definitely prefer any song on rock band over gh3, the rock band guitar is much better to play... no clicking strum bar, no clicking fret buttons and the guitar itself is closer in size to an actual guitar.

See, I'm not a big fan of the Rock Band controller...every store at Christmas had broken Rock Band guitars, but the Guitar Hero ones held up all season. Hell, they've been using the same one at Best Buy nearly a year now.

I'll buy "Train in Vain" but there's no way I'll ever play "Kool Thing" ever again after GH3, that stupid song is an abomination and completely pointless to play.

Kool Thing is a pretty weak guitar part, by Sonic Youth standards, plus the rapping segment will either be unused or a disaster. They should have taken something like "Candle" or "(I Got A) Catholic Block".

The Sonic Youth song will be an incredibly hard difficulty on the guitar, as it will require you banging your face into the guitar for the entirety of the song.
