The Offspring reveal album artwork

The Offspring have posted the artwork for their long-awaited new album. The record is titled Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace and is due out June 17, 2008. It is the follow-up to Splinter which was released in 2003.

Font is bad, glow is really bad, radial glow halo thing is really really bad, but the sketch is nice. I give this album art 6/10

I could take or leave the font, but yeah, the glow around the image is a cop-out. Black outlines conflicting with black background? Throw a glow behind everything and call it a day! Lame.

Long awaited by whom? The people who liked Offspring to begin with most likely have moved onto better bands and the younger crowd only knows Offspring from they horrible post Ixnay days.

I saw Hot Water Music play Radio with Alkaline Trio about four years ago when they did a UK tour together.... very cool.

Yeah so bland. They took a decent illustration and ruined it with cheesy Photoshop glows. I gladly would have drawn something for them! Oh well. Art Director guy at the label probably phoned it in.

i found some mardi gras beads on the ground at warped tour a few years ago. they had fake plastic boobs attached. i saw dexter, so i offered them to him. he was a huge jerk for no reason. thats probably why this album cover sucks so bad.

he might just be frustrated this his band stopped being relevant over 15 years ago, that he has a 14 year old boys hair cut, and because he probably didn't nail all the yeah yeah yeah parts down live.

That's really horrible. Im trying to think about all the CDs I own and I don't think any of them are that bad. It's so generic...

And in fairness, Splinter, while far from great, actually had some pretty original art. The statue-head-exploding-thing was cool...

this album art is perfect, bc just like the offspring, it's really bad. my guess is that they were walking through some trashy carnival said, "alright dudes...let's just throw the dart at one of the airbrushed designs, and whichever one sticks, we'll use it as our cover art."
