The Calgary Folk Music Festival will take place this year from July 24th to the 27th in the city's Prince Island Park. As with any massive festival the bands involved don't all quite fall within genre boundaries, so the punk-minded can look forward to sets from the Weakerthans, Bedouin Soundclash, Conor Oberst And The Mystic Valley Band, and Greg MacPherson. You can find the full line up over at Chart.

I'd shoot a fucking hobo in the eye to see Greg MacPherson again. He has a great live show. It was too bad when I saw him it was between Western Addiction and Propagandhi...The audience was hostile.

First time I think I've ever wanted to see all four acts listed in the title of a Fest.

Bill Callahan, Blue Rodeo, Calexico, jeez, may make the trip down to calgary. How can you go wrong with awesome record stores, bagel dumpsters, and tubby dogs. |
