Weakerthans, Bedouin Soundclash, Greg MacPherson, Conor Oberst at Calgary Folk Fest

The Calgary Folk Music Festival will take place this year from July 24th to the 27th in the city's Prince Island Park. As with any massive festival the bands involved don't all quite fall within genre boundaries, so the punk-minded can look forward to sets from the Weakerthans, Bedouin Soundclash, Conor Oberst And The Mystic Valley Band, and Greg MacPherson. I'd love to kick Conner in the balls. What the fuck is with his shitty quivering voice? Always sounds like he is crying hysterically while singing.

I'd shoot a fucking hobo in the eye to see Greg MacPherson again. He has a great live show. It was too bad when I saw him it was between Western Addiction and Propagandhi...The audience was hostile.

I really hope he puts out some more stuff soon (hopefully stateside).

When I saw him on that tour, the SF crowd was not very stoked. But when they played in Santa Cruz, people seemed a lot more into him.

Also the first time I've ever wanted to live in Calgary for any reason.

Bill Callahan, Blue Rodeo, Calexico, jeez, may make the trip down to calgary. How can you go wrong with awesome record stores, bagel dumpsters, and tubby dogs.
