Videos: Rancid: "L.A. River" live

Rancid are in the midst of their North American tour and reports have started to come in from concertgoers. The band has been performing a new Matt Freeman sung song dubbed "L.A. River" that will appear on their forthcoming, still untitled new record. Word from showgoers is that the Brett Gurewitz produced album will arrive via Hellcat Records in September. This is a little bit later than initially reported, but since we're following up Indestructible from all the way back in 2003, what's a month or two?

You can watch a video of the band performing "L.A. River" along with ...And Out Come The Wolves singles "Time Bomb" and "Ruby Soho" by clicking below. The video was recorded by a fan at the band's June 11th show at Club 101 in El Paso, Texas.

I'm seeing 4 shows on this tour. They should be good. I've got a few shows on DVD and audio with Branden on drums, and shit, he's better than Brett. But I still miss Brett.

I don't really like this song, to be honest. I'm glad that Matt is singing again, but I feel like this song is just an Indestructible leftover.
And apparently the new record is called "One Way To Die" or something of that nature. I forget exactly what I was told.
But no one knows that...

I was thinking about seeing them Saturday.

I saw them a couple (few?) years back at the Gypsy Tea Room, and if I remember correctly their headlining set was somewhere around 45 minutes long. Had a very rushed feeling to it all.

Finally something new; hope its better and more thought out than "indestructible". whats with all the hate on here for them anyway, other than that one? it wasnt even *that* bad..

I like Indestructible. The poppier* songs were my favourites (Start Now, Back Against the Wall, to be specific).

*I almost posted this with a typo reading "poopier". Which would have garnered a few chuckles, so I thought I would mention it.

Why can't people submitting these videos just stand still? I don't need to see what it was like from the annoying "pit cam"...we get it, people were jumping around....just stand still, the sound is shitty enough without it being enhanced with shaky video footage.

He might not be the best vocalist, but the guy is one of the best currently active bass players and has contributed a shitton to the genra. I look at him as the "Eric Melvin of Rancid". He deserves to let it out once in a while.

Fat Mike made fun of him the last time NOFX played Orlando. They just finished Radio and were talking about the split record and said something like "no matter how bad our version of Radio is it's nowhere near as bad as their version of Don't Call Me White" and then made fun of how Matt sang the opening.

I think Matt's Voice is killer. I love his singing.

And I think they're version of "Don't Call Me White" is sick. Not as good as the original, but none of those covers were (besides maybe NoFx's Olympia WA). That split sucked, but i'd say Don't Call me White was easily the second best track on it.

...and as if Fat Mike is really one to talk about good singing, haha

I would just listen to one of the previous albums to get my annual fix and move on to purchasing something else. With all respect to the Offspring though, they are one of the biggest reasons I listen to the music I do.
