Echo Park, California-based all-girl quintet Rocket have announced their summer touring plans in the United States. The band also recently relaunched their myspace page.

Was it really necessary to point out that they were all female? I don't remember the last time I saw a news blurb that said "All-male band the Lawrence Arms" or "Escape the Fate, a group composed of people of indeterminate gender..."

based on sheer numbers, it's somewhat noteable. Would you describe every regu;ar colored ferret you see as a "non-albino" ferret? There are lots and lots of regular ferrets out there but not as many albino ferrets so it's worth noting.

Also, it helps differentiate them from the thousands of other bands on this site that I've never heard of. Because I give female singers the benefit of the doubt, I'll probably check them out whereas I may not have bothered otherwise.

Yes because an all female band is quite unusual, especially on this site, while 99 % of the bands covered here are all-men ones.

I got coxed into seeing this group on a date earlier this year.

All they did for me, is make me want to listen to Sleater-Kinney

I guess they were ok, although really nothing special.
They really overplayed their girly glam thing though.
