Alexisonfire at "a crossroads?"

Though the band has not explicitly defined their status, Alexisonfire's Wade McNeill recently discussed the status of the band, particularly in light of his bandmate and his side projects. McNeill recently released his debut as Black Lungs and Dallas Green has been touring extensively as City and Colour.

We'll see what happens... Alexis hasn't broken up, but we'll see what happens. We are at a crossroads now.

The band has just two shows booked for the summer as both Dallas and Wade tour on their albums.

This is not good news. I don't like Alexisonfire, but City and Colour make me want to die. I will take bad screamo over poorly written quasi-folk rock anyday.

Who are the other band members?

Anyway, I don't listen to this band because the screaming is too much. But I honestly think Wade and Dallas could make it in the 'orgcore' scene. Wade could be Chuck Ragan, Dallas could be Chris Wollard. :P

If George just went and, I don't know, died, or something, they could be a great band. As long as they don't replace him with another screamer.

and you don't even have to deal with the shitstorm of alexisonfire everything that we do in toronto every time they play a show or release something. between them (and their terrible side projects) and the cancer bats i don't know who's worse.

Hostage Life. Hostage Life is worse. AOF & their offshoots are easily avoidable but fucking Hostage Life play EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN SHOW in this ridiculous city.

I think I will always have a soft spot for hostage life because the lead singer used to be in Marilyn's Vitamins, and they were always fun to see drunk. I do agree, that they are overplayed, but it doesn't get to me the way AOF or C&C do.

yeah, they're overplayed like the others but at least they're somewhat decent. thankfully all the standard toronto bands typically play together at shows so you can just avoid the entire block of them.

City and Color was pretty cool when it was just Dallas recording demos with home made cd covers his mom made. Now he's gone too far.

Black Lungs is alright. It's a great record, but live, it's really wonky.

I didn't see much of a future for Alexisonfire anyway. They've always seemed confused as to whether they are a punk rock band or an emo band; write fast and fun songs or slow, poetic ballads. Their first album was great, but everything after that is just so-so.

fast paced doesn't mean punk rock songs.. they've always maintained a somewhat generic singer/screamer style screamo sound like so many other bands.

I used to really love this band but I got really bored of Crisis and don't listen to them anymore. I don't really like either of the side projects either. C&C bores me and Black Lungs is radio rock with a piano clunkily lumped over the top of it.

Dallas Green can pursue his true calling of playing ez-rock cry-ballads to 14 year old girls (and their purse holding, eye rolling boyfriends) and everyone in Toronto can stop riding AOF's nuts so hard. It's been tiresome.
