Ben Nichols “Revival Tour”

SideOneDummy Records has announced the dates for the upcoming Revival Tour, featuring Chuck Ragan of Hot Water Music, Tim Barry of Avail and Ben Nichols of Lucero. The tour will feature the three frontmen playing solo sets and collaborating on each other's material. A number of notable punk frontmen will join the trio on select dates, with appearances planned by Tom Gabel of Against Me!, Chris Wollard of Hot Water Music / The Draft, Kevin Seconds of 7Seconds, John Snodgrass of Drag The River, Jesse Malin of D Generation and Chris McCaughan of the Lawrence Arms.

A number of dates will also feature Austin Lucas, which which Ragan recorded the upcoming album Bristle Ridge. The musicians who participated in that recording will perform the work on a special show in St. Augustine, FL on July 5th. They'll be supporting the Old Crow Medicine Show at the St. Augustine Amphitheater.

Tell me about it. I'm surprised they didn't go ahead and do both Baltimore and DC. Lucero draws really well in Baltimore, Tim Barry drew better than I expected, and I'm pretty sure Chuck Ragan would do just as well. This had Ottobar written all over it.

Oh well, Black Cat should still be a good show.

the first time I heard it, I didn't really dig it. I found it a bit over-produced, it sounded almost like the lead singer was doubled or something. It was just too clean. But I realized that they're doing rock and roll, you know? When you look at it like that, it's fuckin sick.

seriously,...100% seriously....re: afi on nascar08 or whatever...I know I know it's boring...and I was once 100% in that camp....and I'm a neophyte...but, I've gotten in to NASCAR a little bit more each year over the past 4 years...and how do you not effin love that end of race drama? You've got your Kyle Busch/yankees...I totally understand the criticism because I'm not a lifer...but at the very least, it is no less boring than watching a full regular season NBA/MLB/NHL game. Seriously...the limited(relatively) schedule, where each "game" means something...I will take criticism...and if you just plain don't like organized sport...more power to ya...but this is infinitely consumable.

you can't really compare kyle busch to the yankees because everybody in nascar has an equal budget.

also, what bugs me about nascar is all the advertising. its fucking disgusting. its not an ant-corporate thing or an anti-money thing really, its just classless and boring.

when you like a team (99% of the time) in other sports they are representing your city or your state, while in nascar you're picking the guy with the best sponsor? i don't really get it.

Not really. Kyle Busch has A+ sponsorship, whereas guys like Michael McDowell and David Gilliland have no-name sponsors that probably won't last too long. Ganassi just had to shut down one of his teams because sponsorship fell through.

Picking a driver isn't about sponsorship, it's about, for me anyway, their attitude, what they do on the track, how they treat other drivers, who they drive for, what kind of car they drive, and sometimes where they're from.
