The Matches part ways with bassist

The Matches have announced the departure of bassist Justin San Souci. The band has not provided much in the way of explanation, saying only:

It disarranges us to relay that our long-time bassist and friend, Justin San Souci, will be parting from the role of bassist in the Matches to pursue other lives and loves. He, however, will not be parting from the role of friend. Change is not an easy thing, but it does not stop until life does. Our hearts go out to Justin for being brave and true to his heart's pursuit.

The group released A Band in Hope this year.

what's with all the matches hating? while they do get labelled as a pop-punk band (enough to put most of the "coolest" orgers off i'm sure) they are probably one of the most creative bands on the scene. sure it also happens to sound good on the radio but so what. if you listen without any bias or any preconceived idea about what punk is or should be, then maybe you'll realise this band is great.

I realize these guys are different and write pop. Still, it doesnt sound good on radio and I realize they aren't great. Ive seen them play many times when they were the Locals. Good musicians but hell, I just thought they were a bit irritating.

Justin was the coolest member of the band. All of them are nice, but Justin was a bit more genuine. I always thought he and the drummer didn't quite fit with the singer and guitarist, at least on stage.

These guys have really good energy live and are worth checking out.

I saw them at Soundwave this year. Quite cool, but I just don't like the singer for some reason.

This band is horrible! Plus they have a rock manager who brags about his making them create a unique look and style to stand out amongst the other "punk" bands trying to make it big.
