Break-ups: Shorebirds (2007-2008)

Shorebirds has broken up. The band, which featured Matt Canino, of Latterman and Jawbreaker alum Chris Bauermeister, received considerable acclaim for their debut Self Titled 7".

The announcement came via the label Matt co-runs:

Shorebirds broke up. It was just time for it to not be a band anymore. However, we are still releasing the LP, which is now all finished up. It will be available as soon as it is done being pressed and such.

As reported earlier, the album will be pressed on vinyl and CD but no digital release is planned.

You and me both. Favorite band of all time, saw them several times, I just want to leave it the way I remember it.

Although, if it happened, I'd be at every show within driving distance

lacking the ability to drive isn't normally a problem in this case it would be, I could get someone to drive me somewhere in a pickle but not to a jawbreaker show in another country.

It's like a Smiths reunion. I would be down so hardcore, but I kinda want it to stay perfect the way it is, too.

Also, I would hate to have to go to some shithole thing like Coachella to see it.

It depends because all of them vary. Most would say "24 Hour Revenge Therapy" or "Dear You" (which is the biggest departure from their earlier sound). My personal favorite is "Unfun," though.

I always felt this band was a vast improvement songwriting wise over Latterman, he actually started writing stuff that wasn't about "staying positive" for once. Not that those are bad, but when you get nothing but 3 albums of it it tends to get a bit tiresome.

One of my friends and I were talking about the Fest this year and were hoping that Shorebirds (Matt) and Bridge and Tunnel (Pat) would both play it and somehow that would lead to a Latterman reunion. And then for no real reason, Jawbreaker would reform and close the Fest. It was all wishful thinking, though. One of those Orgcore wet dreams.

But if they all did tour, it could be the "We Broke Up...Kind Of... Tour, 2008."

the Jawbreaker reunion is not happening. found on from a reliable first-hand source. also, don't get your hopes up for a Latterman reunion ever either. That will never happen.

And Iron Chic rules and matt lives in Olympia while the Chic is from Long Island. I doubt Matt will ever be in that band. But I AM putting out the Iron Chic 7" ep this fall. Look for it on dead broke.
