Rudimentary Peni release “No More Pain”

UK-based Rudimentary Peni have released a new full length, No More Pain. The album is the first collection of new material from the long-running anarchist punk act since 2004's Archaic EP.

The album promises '77-era fast punk and the '80's-influenced slower, chugging material. The 10th track on the album is "Pachelbel's Canon In E," the band's take on the 1600s-era classic piece by composer Johann Pachelbel.

I'm pretty sure I submitted something about this a couple months ago when the southern site put up the first mp3, but maybe I forgot.

Even though the dude from cultpunk is a definite fanboy, I would tend to side with him a little more. I really like the record. I haven't heard most of their discography, so maybe I'd be a little more let down if I was more familiar with all their stuff.

Pachelbel's famous canon is in D major. Is the song title supposed to be a pun? I don't get it.

The most famous version was in D major, but it's been done in others. The band probably just liked E better.

Final track on the album "Pachelbel's Canon In E" is a version of the most famous piece of music written by classical composer Johann Pachelbel. It was written in or around 1680 and is more commonly known as "Pachelbel's Canon (in D)".
