The Ska Is Dead Tour presents Skankgsiving '08

The four year old Ska Is Dead Tour returns once again for Skanksgiving '08. The tour is confirmed for two large festival shows on November 15th and 16th, in Foxborough, MA and Sayreville, NJ, respectively. The lineup features The Pietasters, The Toasters, Mustard Plug, Westbound Train, Bomb the Music Industry!, Big D and the Kids Table, and more to be announced.

Yeah that's really it. I have no idea what the huge appeal of Streetlight is. That's a band that like once I turned 17 I stopped caring about.

How am I being cocky? I"m just saying I prefer "ska" bands that either know how to show their influences while making a niche for themselves like The Pietasters or bands that like to push the genre farther and create something new. Streetlight is the same ol same ol third wave bullshit, just disguised in pretentiousness. I mean, they're not a bad band by any means but they're hardly the martyrs of "ska" that everyone in the world makes them out to be. I'm glad they're not on this tour. For one, I won't have to sit threw one of their boring sets and I won't have to deal with a ridiculous over crowded room during the New Jersey date.

I am 20 by the way.

couldn't agree more. Big D has completely lost it as they've grown in popularity. and i used to be big on streetlight, as seen by my name, but ive really kind of matured out of that kind of stuff and have been growing into old first wave stuff. Judge Dread, Toots and the Maytals, that kind of stuff.

I really really like Streetlight but I don't understand how people here at the .org put them on this god-like pedestal. I don't see them as being any greater than the Planet Smashers, Big D, Mustard Plug (other than the last album which was ass), Leftover Crack, Against All Authority.

I also can't believe The Pietasters are still around.

I haven't bothered to download any Bomb! recordings but when I saw them on the Asian Man tour they didn't play any ska, it was pretty much punk. Can someone explain this? Was it just that they happened to bring out all of their punk songs for Portland?
