Rumors circulate regarding health of Chiodos frontman Craig Owens

A number of sources are reporting that Chiodos frontman Craig Owens is currently recovering from an overdose attempt at an undisclosed mental health facility. A statement was reportedly posted by Owens on the band's website explaining what happened and apologizing to fans. The band's website currently has no message to that effect, but music news site Ultimate Guitar has reprinted the alleged post. Moderators on the band's message board have indicated that there was some incident of concern, but they are keeping their community mum about the details at this time:

Craig is going through a hard time right now and he appreciates his fans support. However, I have been asked that we give him the privacy he deserves during this time. If I see any posts or threads regarding what is going on I've been asked to delete them. I think this is fair enough. Lets give Craig the space and respect he deserves. My prayers and best wishes are with him and his family.

Chiodos released Bone Palace Ballet in 2007 via Equal Vision.

so, after an attempted overdose early yesterday morning, i found myself awake in the emergency room around 8 - 12 hours later.

however, don’t worry about me, i’m fine. i am being checked into a mental clinic beginning tomorrow at 8 am.

i’d like to apologize to everyone at Power Chord Academy, for me not being able to make it to speak to all of the kids tomorrow in Chicago. i promise to make it up, the best that i can and hopefully will be able to reschedule the entire event.

wish me luck, and let’s hope that i learn from this, and that i am able get out very soon.

Sure, I have little respect for someone who irresponsibly overdoses because they're stupid... but if you have no respect for anyone who commits suicide or OD's on purpose, then you obviously have lived a charmed life... so good for you. Being mentally unstable is not being an idiot. The human mind is a scary thing when it's not in the right state. It can make a person do anything beyond their control.

You can have your opinions, but let's not wish death on people with serious problems, ok?

hahaha First of all, I am uncontrollably excited about every single thing you just said! Any time I burned those 4 songs as a demo/EP I always put "The System..." last so it was "Leaving", "This Machine", "Our City", then "The Sytem". But you might be on to something putting it first! And hey, I figure whatever order works for you is the way you should play it :)

Honestly, thank you so much for listening and for really caring. I keep my MySpace updated constantly so you can always check that out, but I will do my best to post something here every once in a while too. I've been trying to record more all Summer, but the 4-track recorder I used broke so I'm waiting on a new one at the moment. But I have some new stuff on my MySpace and my PureVolume too. More new songs and videos and pictures will be coming very soon since I'm playing 3 shows this weekend!! I

my best friend loves his band.

on one of their last tours, they (Chiodos) posted a myspace bulletin asking if anyone wanted to hang out. my friend replied, and sure enough, he asked us if we could pick him up and stuff.

I never liked them, but she wanted me to go, and I figured, eh. why not?

he ended up playing a few songs for us (even covered Sorry About That by Alkaline Trio) and hung out for a bit.

Really genuinely nice guy. asked me about all my tattoos with actual interest, even the bouncing souls one, who he said he really liked.

Sure, if Slayer is responsible for homicides. If I killed someone, I'd claim The Haunted Made Me Do It! The news blast is definitely a cry for attention.
But I think emo people are drawn to depressing music, and happy people like bouncy pop and ska, etc. I'm not sure how often someone stoked on life hears a Bright Eyes song and instantly wants to slit their wrists.
The same argument goes for does Rap cause people to join gangs. No. At least I say no. People are responsible for their own actions and easy influence.

It has something to do with his personality. Since the guy was in high school (possibly even earlier. My first encounter with him was when he was in high school), the guy has had a very cocky, "I am above everyone else" rock-star attitude. He demanded a lot from anyone who knew him and gave little back in return. At this point he's become filthy-rich, yet he can't even spare his show guarantee to help out the dwindling club that helped them get where they are now. The band had two "benefit shows" for the club a year or two ago, but the guarantee was so high the club didn't actually profit. The club is about 20 minutes away from where he lives, so it wasn't an expense issue.

Then there's the issue with him constantly attempting to have sex with 13-14 year olds.

To me, for him to attempt something like this is pure cowardice. It sounds like his guilt
