Against Me! release digital EP of "New Wave" b-sides

Gainesville, FL's Against Me! have released a five-song b-side EP taken from the recording sessions of last year's New Wave. The album has been made available as a digital download through Amazon's MP3 download store.

Amazon was the only label (for lack of a better term. Distro?) That would sell the new Paul Westerberg album... for $0.49. So that was pretty cool of 'em. Also you should check it out.

It's kind of hard to complain. This answers the complaints that people had about t double-dip import version that came out.

These songs aren't new and they aren't putting out another stupid version. No complaints. Most of the people that give a shit already have these songs anyway.

I still think they should have released a CD of this the whole time though, fuck add on the studio acoustic versions of other songs from this album they could have had a nice little b-sides mini album. I still support the band but I downloaded all of these.

Yeah, it's just like reading the descriptions on the NOIDEA site with the 7"s...'the bnad couldn't descide which versions to include...'

I'd like both versions. I would have picked up a b-sides record with the different versions as well. They didn't offer it, so I procured them through other means.

I'm sure as shit not giving Amazon money OR using 'pepsi points' whatever the fuck that is.

But, my friend, called it "Armageddon" so that's how it is in my iTunes library.

I'm one of the people that would make such comments, sure you can burn your own cd-r with your own tracklisting but why stop there why don't you just sub in "Impact" and 'Walking Is Still Honest" or listen to a completely different album if you don't like New Wave. that doesn't change the fact that the recording sessions for New Wave could have produced a better album.

I think the hate is a little ridiculous, but the band did alienate their fans sorta. They have also said a bunch of things in the past and now they are doing the things they said they would never do. I'm pretty sure I remember an interview the band did after Warped 2005 where they stated they would never do Warped again yet they are doing it this year. From my perspective (3 Against Me shows within the past year and reading a bunch of interviews) I think that James is the jackass of the band. I still have tons of respect for Warren and Andrew, they seem like great dudes. Tom is the creative genious he has always been his music is just more tame nowadays and the passion isn't as intense as it used to be. Just my opinion. This is a very incoherrent statement.

i guess you could make the alienation arguement, but i think when fans ussually claim that its because they chose not to continue with the band because their popularity was gaining and weren't "their" cool band anymore. i think a real alienation would be because the band says "fuck these fans, we want all new ones".
also, so what if they said they wouldn't do warped again and then did? seems like a trivial thing.
yeah, the major label thing can be hard to wrap your brain around and i was alittle unsure of the whole thing but after hearing the record, really letting it sink in, and then seeing them live afew times since it makes sense. it was the next logical step for a band their size.
as for "tameness", i can't think of many musicians that haven't "tamed" with age. i dont know if i'd really call it taming, i think its just maturing, putt

There's an ad at the bottom of this thread for Austrian Death Machine. I was pretty stoked at the idea of the band because I initially thought they'd have Arnold clips solely as the vocals. Unfortunately, I was mistaken, and it sucks.

Can you imagine a "it's not a toomah!" before a breakdown? That would be worth listening to generic metalcore, beyond any doubt.

In response to reading all of these comments, I must be the only dude who actually still likes this band and every release they've done since Crime. (Sure, "New Wave" isn't as good as past albums, but that doesn't mean it sucks and for what it is, it's an above-average record in my opinion.)

As for the B-Sides, some were left off the record for a reason and rightfully so, and a couple could replace "Animal" or "The Ocean" on the record.

gonna put this out there since I'm actually surprised no one pointed it out...

The Untitled song is NOT an electric version of the Untitled track from the Acoustic EP. It's a good track, don't get me wrong...not as good as the acoustic Untitled, but good.
