It's the first Tuesday of August, so it's time for our reader-voted top 20 list. The following list represents your favorite albums of July, as voted by you guys whenever you click those stars under an album review. Leading the pack is the major label debut from Alkaline Trio, but the list runs the gamut covering new material from bands like The Sword, The Offspring, Smoking Popes and Have Heart.

Fuck Yeah! Imadethismistake cracks the top 20. Take that lesser albums. As for Alkaline Trio, guess Toby was right.

I'm definitely stoked for imadethismistake.

i still haven't listened to the methadones/copyrights split. shame on me =(
Street_Dog_Guy (August 5, 2008)
One of the consistantly great live bands out there right now. My favorite DKM stuff was with Mike McColgan anyway, so it made perfect sense that the Street Dogs would be just as good, if not better and to me, I'm right. I see them whenever I can, can't wait for the new album 1+ Reply

Just listened to La Grecia for the first time, since you can listen on the page linked in this list. Not sure what the interest is =( My loss I guess. 7+ Replies

Let me get a fuck yeah for Moving Mountains. I'm nowhere near tired of that one yet. On the other hand, I was done with the new Alk3 the second time I heard it. I didn't hate it, but it seems like a giant waste of time when there's so much better stuff out there at the moment. Like Transit or Racing Exit 13. 1+ Reply

go do your own thing and keep listening exclusively to hot water music and shut up.

'Til the Wheels Fall Off is better than most albums this year, let alone this month. 2+ Replies

Songs To Scream At The Sun got me hooked on hardcore again, it's probably gonna end up as my #1 album of the year.

Where are the Alkaline faithful? I gave Agony and Irony some time to mull about in my skull, and I can't find much to complain about. It's pop bliss.

So yeah, I just listened to the new Gaslight Anthem cd for the first time, and I just cant stop wondering what the hell happened to the production. I mean shit, the name "59 Sound" isn't too far off, as the damn thing sounds like it was recorded with equipment from 1959. 3+ Replies

lol Alkaline Trio. This list looks like it was made by a Hot Topic employee.

OKAY FUCKERS, THE NEW ALK3 ALBUM ONLY HAS ONE FLAW: "RUIN IT"...DAN USING THE CHER EFFECT MAKES ME WANT TO BEAT THE FUCK OUT OF HIM, AND MAYBE I WILL!! FUCK!! 6+ Replies

You fucking kids are so goddamned obnoxious sometimes. Stuck up, pretentious, and way the fuck too elitist. I think the absolute worst part about this site, and most punks in general is the tendency to build a band up to fucking legendary status, and then tear them down when they actually get big (which is probably your damned fault anyway), AM!, A3, and soon The Gaslight Anthem. The new A3 is a good album, New Wave is a good album. Sure, they're both more polished, but that's what both bands were going for. Quit being dicks, and just enjoy some music. Without thinking about it's relative effect on your cred. 8+ Replies

I'm kind of surprised to see the Offspring in the top 10, and they beat the Street Dogs. Still, their best effort since Americana.

Nas - Untitled is BY FAR the best album of July, no question 8+ Replies

off-topic, but i was really looking forward to Aubin posting the news about Max Bemis, but now that it looks like it won't get posted, i think punknews made the right decision. 18+ Replies

is this weighted more on the average score given or the number of times the album is actuallly ranked?

what's really funny is that the smoking popes album technically isn't out yet. they've just been selling them on tour, and it's only available in the chicago area. 2+ Replies

Surprised Have Heart is so high... The Things We Carry was better, but Songs to Scream at the Sun still rips.

I just heard the Static Radio NJ stream and its good and might grow somemore on me. In the Kid Dynamite-y songs I think they sound most like The Steal personally. But I'm pretty sure that Smarten Up by Project 27 is the album of the month. Trash Talk's s/t was also pretty good IMO

have heart was an amazing release, i didnt like it as much as the things...but it grew on me so much

new ceremony isn't too much different than violence violence, but i guess it's kind of hard to expand on their damaged-era black flag sound. still an ok progression, and i'm liking it. 4+ Replies
