Virgin sues 30 Seconds to Mars for $30 million

According to this report, 30 Seconds To Mars's label, Virgin, has filed a lawsuit against the band for their failure to deliver a new album.

The emo/rock band, fronted by actor Jared Leto, sold a million copies of their last album, A Beautiful Lie and hit the mainstage at Warped in 2006. The lawsuit maintains that the band "repudiated" a 1999 contract which required the band to deliver three full lengths.

The only real difference is I thought There Will Be Blood was well acted. But other than that they featured a slow, hammy plot full of people I didn't care about at all, self conscious-to-the-point-of-distraction "artiness" abounded, and the music was terrible.

I prefer Kronos to basically anything even remotely to Radiohead, but that's like saying you prefer Hawthorne Heights to Escape the Fate.

It was honestly just too deliberate for my tastes, and keep in mind I watch movies like Horror of the Blood Monsters.

Yes it is! In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself. Hey Paul!

I'm throwing my hat in 30 Seconds To Mars corner in this debate because I've seen firsthand, well not really firsthand but I've read numerous close to the source articles, about how awful Yellowcard was treated by their major label and while 30 Seconds wasn't as popular or talented as Ryan/Yellowcard, I know how the big labels work. I'm cheer for Jared and his bandmates to take the major labels to task!

That seems pretty ridiculous. The major labels are doing a bad job at not looking like greedy assholes. Not to stick up for a band like 30 seconds to mars, just, that number is shockingly high.
