According to this report, 30 Seconds To Mars's label, Virgin, has filed a lawsuit against the band for their failure to deliver a new album.
The emo/rock band, fronted by actor Jared Leto, sold a million copies of their last album, A Beautiful Lie and hit the mainstage at Warped in 2006. The lawsuit maintains that the band "repudiated" a 1999 contract which required the band to deliver three full lengths. EMI Group (116 comments)

Another thing that actually OFFENDS me, which is hard to to these days, are the people who are pissed that musicians make money. The strange, slow, old people on punknews.org and the few annoying stragglers on this website. 7+ Replies

I'll give them $60 million to continue not recording new music 2+ Replies

Way to force another poor-to-mediocre record on an otherwise unsuspecting public, Virgin. Pretty sneaky, sis.

Leto looks like he has Down's syndrome. He's also a major prick from what I've heard.

I'm throwing my hat in 30 Seconds To Mars corner in this debate because I've seen firsthand, well not really firsthand but I've read numerous close to the source articles, about how awful Yellowcard was treated by their major label and while 30 Seconds wasn't as popular or talented as Ryan/Yellowcard, I know how the big labels work. I'm cheer for Jared and his bandmates to take the major labels to task!

To be honest, I think Jared Leto is hot. But their music is....he should just stick to movies and the My So-Called Life DVD boxset. 6+ Replies

$30 million? Did they sell the last album's million copies at $30 each? How do they pull out a number like this? 1+ Reply

Emo/rock? It's a sad day when punknews starts mistaking 30 Seconds to Mars for emo, and even sadder when I'm the first person to complain.

I have always wondered if that guys ever tried a smash of coke, while shooting that movie.
darkdouchebagdarrel (August 18, 2008)
i think this band sucks. I think the record label should pay them 30 mil to NOT make another fucking album.
the_creeps (August 18, 2008)
I think the main point of this story is that their last CD sold a million copies! | Features
