Congratulations! You're the lucky reader of the 45th edition of the Punknews.org Vinyl File. This column aims to keep you informed of upcoming releases as well as spotlighting interesting releases, your favorite bands' own collections and labels with a history of vinyl releases worth talking about. As always, Vinyl File is brought to you by Ben Conoley.
Underoath are releasing a 7" for one of their new songs, "Desperate Times, Desperate Measures." Despite it's name, the song is an original. You can order the picture disc here. It's limited to 1,000 copies. "Desperate Times, Desperate Measures" will be found on the band's upcoming LP, Lost In The Sound Of Separation. If you don't live in the UK, it's going to break your wallet to pre-order The Hawk Is Howling, the latest album from Mogwai, as it's only available at Amazon UK. It's set to be released on September 22 and will be a double LP. Mightier Than Sword Records have released a 7" from Worcester, MA's Last Lights. The band cites Kid Dynamite and Give Up The Ghost as their influences. The self-titled EP features five songs, four of which are original with one coming from their demo. It's broken down in solid pink (/60), translucent red (/110) and solid white (/160). You can order it here. The sure to be awesome split between Thursday and Envy will be released through Temporary Residence on September 1, at least for pre-order. The label hasn't said how many they plan on printing, but do promise a limited run of numbered copies with hand=printed covers. They will also be on a limited color. The release is only going to be made available as an LP/CD cover. Temporary Residence will also be launching a pre-order for Doomsdayer's Holiday, the latest album from Grails on September 1. It comes out officially on October 7. Tim Barry, best known for his work as singer for Avail, recently took a trip to Munford Elementary. Josh Small tagged along and the two played a number of songs for the lucky second graders. They were recorded and are now available from Vinyl Collective. The record is limited to 1,000 with 30% on white and 70% on brown vinyl. Vinyl Collective is also taking pre-orders for another of their upcoming releases. Joey Cape's solo collection of songs, Bridge is available on army green(/700) and "chocolate milk" (/300) vinyl. For a limited time, you can also grab copies that come with a CD, pint glass, button, poster and beer (or juice) coozie. To do so, click here. Kiss Of Death has released You Can Steal The Riffs, But You Can't Steal the Talent from Serious Geniuses. You can order it through No Idea Records. Another album you can order from No Idea is Hot Water Music's stunning Forever and Counting. The label recently re-released the album, which was previously only out on Doghouse Records. While you can still get it from No Idea, you can only get clear and green versions from Doghouse Records The label also has new releases from Koufax and The Honorary Title. Neutral Territory Records recently put a package deal on where you can buy all three of their 7" releases for $13. It comes with free shipping, so that means the records are close to free, right? The sale includes Another Day At The Zoo by Pitfall, Troublemakers's self-titled 7" and a split between Fakeboys and Frogball. The sale runs until August 21. Itching to hear some classic Megadeth on 180g vinyl? I know, me too. Fortunately we're all in luck. Both Peace Sells, But Who's Buying and Rust In Peace have both been pressed by Elusive Disc and can be purchased from their website. Solidarity Recordings have just put out The Honor SYstem's self-titled 12". It is pressed on white with black and orange splatter (/100) and orange with black and white splatter (/400). The release was originally out on CD through Asian Man Records, but is seeing it's first pressing on vinyl. Jumpstart Records has started pre-orders for two A Wilhelm Scream represses. Both the Diver [7 inch] 7" and Career Suicide LP are available now. Chunksaah has repressed the self-titled 10" from The Loved Ones. Limited to 250 copies on pink/black splatter, the repress won't last long. If you ever had buyer's remorse for dropping $100 on Alkaline Trio's Maybe I'll Catch Fire, it's about to get worse. Asian Man has re-released it along with issuing a first pressing of the band's acclaimed self-titled collection. (157 comments)

Refused to buy 'Maybe I'll Catch Fire' and 'Goddamit' for $100 each from the price gouger kids on Ebay - so I just ordered both for 10 bucks each. I rule! 3+ Replies
